@Tim and anybody else which version of the band did you like better Van Halen or Van Haggar? I preferred the vocals of Sammy over Dave, but there is something to be said about the edginess of the early albums. I don't think there are any wrong answers when it comes to this band. OU812 was a classic start to finish and my favorite, however, I wore that first album out the month it was released until a month later when I saw them live.
I honestly don’t view one as better than the other. If I listen to them chronologically it just feels like steady growth in art.
LMAO not now maybe later, Hey, I was a big Montrose fan. BWW What are your thoughts on that first Montrose album? Montrose wasn't the same after Sammy left, and you could say the same thing about Van Halen, but at least they landed on their feet with Sammy, Gary Cherone not so much. lol That night when I partied with those guys Diamond Dave was trippin' like a mf. He was staring at the ceiling saying "The birds are flying in the sky and singing in the trees" lol and I was like where's the fuckin' beer? Baby, he's set in his ways he's probably sitting on his front porch right now with a bottle of bourbon yelling at the kids "stay off the lawn"
Fair enough, but as I said there are no wrong answers except maybe mine according to you. LMAO, I actually like both but I preferred one over the other and that's probably because of the work he did with Montrose and maybe an extension of that band that I missed from my high school years, I don't know. I saw Montrose one time without Haggar and it just wasn't the same so I can see your side. I felt the same way you did when they brought in the "More than Words" guy Gary Cherone.
Montrose first album is one of my favorite albums. Get on your bad motor scooter and ride Candy Rock the nation some other good songs
