The book was masterful. Then again, it was by Cormac McCarthy, so I wouldn't expect anything less.

Wait, ive seen that movie. i think it's the one with Kristen Stewart and 2 guys...? She gets topless in the car sitting in between them and bangs them both later on...

    not a bad movie...

  3. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

    That was "On the Road."

McCarthy's "The Road" was a post-apocalyptic movie with Viggo Mortensen.

I was told the book was pretty good and intend to check it out eventually lol

  6. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

I heartily recommend ANYTHING McCarthy's written.

  7. Jeanquev Legend Steelers

good to hear and I will check him out but hell these days anytime i sit still enough to read something I fall asleep

I have a 45-minute train ride each way, so I have no excuse for not reading more (lately).

axe-do you take the septa regional rail trains? i did for years.

  10. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

I do. I rode the Fox Chase line up until we sold our home; then it was the West Trenton line while we lived in an apartment while our house was being built, and now it's the Warminster line.

nice. philly has a lot of issues, but their transportation system is pretty good for a big city. when i lived in south philly and didn't have a car for 10 yrs, i took the trains to my siblings houses. it was great and easy.

It's not bad at all. Gives me a chance to relax and decompress, and I'm only about 10 minutes away from the station, so I'm putting less than 10 miles a day on my car.

yeah. due to pa tolls costs and gas, i am taking the train to pittsburgh next month for ND-Pitt. only 30 more than driving. airlines wanted $300 and up for a flight! it's a 25 min flight! bf 9/11 it used to be $49 1 way. $300 blow me.

That's why I always take a train to NYC. Why drive and pay ridiculous tolls when I can get a round-trip train ticket for $30?

And can someone explain to me why it costs over $100 to take Amtrak from Philly to DC, but a similar Philly to NYC trip on NJTransit is just $30...?

amtrak vs nj transit! amtrak is billions in debt and rapes customers on fees. nj transit is like septa-far cheaper.

amtrak from philly 30th street station to Po-dunk Lancaster 12 yrs ago $22 round trip. same trip now $55-60!

  16. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

Amtrak needs to take a page from NJTransit's playbook - NJTransit is cheaper, and their trains are nicer and more comfortable.

I took nj transit twice. up and back to NY and Yankee stadium. the first train was a double decker and was really nice. the second one was really old. i don't mind amtrak at all. always a nice seat...

now cost...yes, amtrak is a fortune.

  18. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

True - some of the NJTransit cars are older (especially the weekend models). But the new double-decker ones are pretty sharp.

yeah - i was like holy crap that's awesome. plus i was all giddy going to ny to see the old yankee stadium in it's final year too. my Mom was from the Bronx and used to walk to the old stadium with his twin sister in the 40's so it was a tribute to them i go before they tore it down...
