  1. i'm generally a fan of the franchise. i think it's a dependable product.

but octopussy has a proud place among the worst in the series. i don't even remember the brosnan ones, so i won't comment. but octopussy and a view to a kill are bad.

i personally like craig in the role. looking forward to seeing spectre.

I put Bond movies in the same category as Star Trek ones. Sometimes there's something fun or new in there, but they're ultimately disappointing more often than not. I like Craig, and I'll see Spectre, but I thought all 3 of the movies were forgettable after seeing them once.

  3. the difference to me is that i've seen every bond movie. i bailed on star trek years ago.

Smart move bailing on Star Trek. I keep meaning to bail on both franchises, but I doubt I will.

I thought the newest Star Trek was pretty entertaining, I'm not sure how much my low expectations played a part in how much I enjoyed it. It had a lot of flashy visual stuff, which doesn't do much for me but it was easy on the eyes and the head overall. Fast moving story without as many of the protracted bs sideshow storylines that take away from so much of the franchise. I gave it a nice neat thumbs up.

the first reboot of star trek from jj abrams was good bc it brought how they all got on that ship. now fans are pissed as the new version shows kirk as a bad youth rebel badass, but that's why he's kirk. the backstory of him and spoke in the new version was good too.

ive seen bond movies a lot on cable. in a view to a kill, i keep wishing tonya roberts gets topless but she never does. damn it.

trivia -- how many oscar winning actors or actresses appeared in bonds movies? this is harder than you think....

  7. oh, duh, they're skeered to corrupt the minds of young people by showing them naked adults. decapitation is ok, but tits and ass? sorry.

click the "set age gate off" button.

  8. M.I.A. Unknown Soldier MIA's C.P. Falcons

To me Craig doesn't look the part. I liked Moore, Connery and Brosnan but Dalton was too negative, not cool and had problems making the role work at times. Lazenby was okay.

  9. M.I.A. Unknown Soldier MIA's C.P. Falcons

Also, I never got into a female as M. Just wasn't right.

  10. i wasn't a fan of dench's M either.

Im a fan of both Star Trek and Bond. The first reboot of ST was pretty good the 2nd failed because the it was basically Star Trek 2 wrath of Kahn with a twist.

I know plenty of people who like craig I just dont buy into him as bond. Doesnt mean his movies have been bad or that I dont like them just not one of his fans.

I guess im in the minority here I liked Dench as M.

Sure there have been cheesy moments in Bond but that is as much a part of Bond as his martini or his license to kill. I have nto read any of flemmings books but it was interesting when an article said Bond would have been so drunk he couldnt have saved the world or bedded the number of women he did.

I can think of 4 but feel like I may be missing one maybe 2. Connery, Walken, Dench and Berry are the 4 I can think of right off the bat.

jean - very good. but there is 1 more out there....
people forget walken and dench won oscars.

the thing with dench is they wanted to mix it up and i have no problem with that. just like Q as the old guy died, they went with someone else and now have a young kid doing it. need changes man. change is good.

  13. M.I.A. Unknown Soldier MIA's C.P. Falcons

Change is good when it works. Q is just hard to replace, no matter who you go with.

i like the young direction they're taking with technology and Q though. mix it up. they need better villains though. most are cheesy but if you're going to bump up the technology - bump up the villains too.

I never understood why they don't portray the bad guys as an organization like it was done in Thunderball. Seat them around a table, kill off a few, have a meeting and lay down a global plan. To me it is more believable to have a large organization try to take over the world than one miserable "criminal genius" kind of guy do it.

i like when in godlfinger or a view to a kill, the moment someone from the roundtable of bad guys doesnt agree they kill him off in bad ways. the one is dropped from a blimp into the SF Bay and the other is shot and then crunched in a car compactor. ouch.

just agree and take the money and be bad. haha.

  17. M.I.A. Unknown Soldier MIA's C.P. Falcons

The bad guys were more sophisticated in the old days. Connery had the benefit of getting to do the best of the novels made into movies.

  18. this is a very valid point.
