  1. and here's a clue. burton is one of my favorite actors. the correct answer to this question is also - probably my favorite, not just "one of".

  2. ps: i actually live fairly near a town named... Bad Axe.

  3. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

The commercials on AMC ARE ridiculous. Plus it seems like their movie collection database is very limited; always the same movies on.

LOVE Shawshank...but don't think I'd put it at the top of my movie list.

Heck, I have a friend who still hasn't seen The Godfather.

  4. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

    You're Michigan, then...?

A friend of mine was travelling in the area and got me a Bad Axe t-shirt. Think I still have it...

Hmmm...after all the discussions of movies that have gone on here, I'm not sure I know your favorite actor.

    I'll try another: Anthony Hopkins?

I have one more guess after this...

  6. no, but i am in michigan ;)

  7. not hopkins. i wonder if you've never seen any of my silence of the lambs rants *JOKINGLY*

  8. pssstttt, MIA - sorry for stealing your question here. step in any time *DRINK*

  9. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

Quite right - although, while I love DeNiro, that doesn't mean I like "Rocky and Bullwinkle" ... or "Meet the Parents."

  10. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

    Okay, how 'bout Peter Sellers?

Richard Burton 1959, 1961, 1968 Felt the role was a new untested concept,[26] and wanted more than the producers would pay.[27]

Cary Grant 1961 Felt he was too old at time being 58; also just wanted to do one film.[28]

Richard Johnson 1961 Terence Young's choice but did not want a contract, because he was under contract to MGM.[29]

i don't see how the answer is NOT Burton. Going to go Cary Grant then Lulz ?

You never seen Shawshank with all the times it's been on tv and cable? Wow.

It's top 10 for me, not top 5.

i do find it odd that timothy daulton who was bond in 86 was offered the role 14-16 years earlier and didn't want to follow sean connery.

  13. the [xx]s in your post tells me it came from wiki, cat. i *KISSED* wiki - i am an avid reader, an editor, and every time they beg for money, i give them some. for a LOT of searches i do, they are my first click. but for movie/TV stuff, IMDB is my first choice.

  14. LOTS of interesting stuff on this page:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055928/trivia

i thought one of the most interesting things there was that none of the dialog is actually ursula andress, all her lines are dubbed by a woman imitating her voice, but with less of an accent.

now, to be fair, tho - i see conflicting toupee comments there - so who knows.

speaking of bond, the who got cut list is pretty famous too. the #1 reason why they were cut -- not British. haha

i think Eastwood and Mel Gibson were on the list. haha

  16. M.I.A. Unknown Soldier MIA's C.P. Falcons

Richard Burton was offered the role in 1959, again in 1961 and yet again in 1968. He felt the role was a new untested concept, and wanted more than the producers would pay.

6 other actors were also offered the role before Sean Connery but turned it down: Carey Grant, Richard Johnson, James Mason, Patrick McGoohan, Rod Taylor and Steve Reeves.

The producers chose Connery because he was a new face, didn't want too much money and was willing to sign a contract to do 4 films.

In 1970 several more actors were offered the role before George Lazenby for On Her Majesty's Secret Service but turned it down: Clint Eastwood, Michael Gambon, Burt Reynolds and Adam West. In 1972 Jon Finch also turned it down.

Liam Neeson was offered the role in 1994 but did not want to play in action movies.

I am a James Bond film freak, not so much now but during the Roger Moore era I loved the James Bond movies.

Liam Neeson was offered the role in 1994 but did not want to play in action movies.

HAHA - That's all he does now !

I wish that Hugh Jackman had taken the role instead of Craig but oh well. Flemming didnt like Connery as Bond but his girlfriend convinced him that Connery had they sexual charisma for the role. Flemming ended up loving him so much he made the character half Scottish in latter novels.

i think daniel craig got better in the role.

i think skyfall, which was a different type of bond movie was one of the best ones ever made. it wasn't cheesy like some of the other ones i.e. octopussy and the one where pierce brosnan drives through a brick wall in a tank with his head sticking out of it and his hair is perfectly together as well as his suit.

jackman would be good as well, but i don't mind craig.

the new trailer for spectre looks awesome!
