That sounds dangerously close to Rugby. When the head official is unsure, he calls up to the guy in the booth and he has (I think 30 seconds) to look at it and let him know. It's quick and accurate.

Not sure if the NFL wants that. Slow usually means more commercial breaks.

They only do that for checking if it was a Try(TD). In football it just has to cross the plain but in rugby you have to physically touch the ball down on the ground in the endzone. System works well though.

Now your cooking flyer, whatever lets them slow the game down right? Of course they could just make it the usual two minutes like the current reviews and bang! Easiest 5% increase in revenues Roger's ever made : )

Great and thorough write up as always Mongo.

Ravens aren't a great road team. Even with McCown starting I think Bears is the better offense. McCown's playing disciplined within the scheme and has great receiving weapons. Should be a tough team for Forte to bounce back and return to running form.

Defensively our poor run D is playing a poorer run O so we may still get to force Flacco one dimensional esp later in the game. Bostic is improving. Not much to add there. We'll certainly miss Peanut-duh! But I think we still see some takeaway opportunities and I think D is still capable of forcing Raven FGs VS TDs as up front Wootton and Paea will play well and overall may be the key factor to getting this win. Supposed to be nasty-windy so maybe even some of those FGs get blown off target.

STs: Raven's probably have a bit of an edge and could help keep Raven's in good starting FP while limiting Bears a bit.

I see a Bears win if we get to 20 or more.

Not a good thing when you expect torrential downpours and 40 MPH wind gusts...

You have no idea how close to the truth you are Mongo. This was my 15th straight day of painting (with a couple of chemo interruptions) but it's almost done. Cool huh?

I should. Jodi took one of me on a 12 foot ladder washing the front windows of the Center. I look a mixture of terrified and serene. That's probably exactly the look I'll have when I'm about to die LOL

Or the look you'll have when I put my foot up your ass if you ever talk like that again...

Did Jodi give you a special ladder with extra close steps for those little legs of yours or did you manage with a grown up one? *DANCE*

    Duly noted Mongo :)

    Umm ... I meant when/if I fall off the ladder. :)

LOL. Is that like when I fell off the wagon?

Worst 3 hours of my life being on that thing.

I hate that damn wagon.....you can't even flatten the tires so it stops going round and round.

3 hours on a wagon? This was difficult?

    Oy ....

I shouldn't joke about falling though. Talk about a life-defining moment when I flew off our roof 13 years ago. And by the way Peter Pan? I can't fly. Liar!!

Stay off the wagon Mongo and AF ... nothing good ever comes from denying yourself something that brings you pleasure ... in moderation.

Oscar Wilde was terribly overrated. But he did say...

  18. No benefit, that is just my standard response. I'm at the age where all my friends are having babies and have a couple that are due here shortly. That is the one complaint every third trimester pregnant woman has is getting up to go pee in the middle of the night (as I remember not so fondly from a year ago). 8) As for the rest, I don't think I'm going to touch that with a 10 foot pole. O:)

McCown is a heady QB with limited arm strength that excels by moving around in the pocket and scrambling at times.

If that weather holds at game time, with the uptick in competition, this is going to be a real challenge for McCown. Limiting his ability to get the ball to his playmakers downfield and limiting his ability to move in the pocket.

One of the reasons Cutler is the franchise QB is for these types of games in NOV/DEC/JAN. His laser beam spirals can cut right through the elements.

This game could be a puntfest that is determined by which offense has the most success running/short passing and which defense forces the big turnover for a score. Assuming Mongo's weather report holds.

Either way, it sounds like the field and the ball are going to be slippery.

The offense needs to be careful with the ball, which I think McCown will be ( reminds me a bit of Alex Smith ), and the defense needs to show up this week vs a weak Ravens offense. Flacco does have the arm strength to throw in the elements, so Smith could still be a deep threat.

Hester could be a factor in a potential field position game.

    The Ravens currently rank 2nd in most punts ( 58 in 9 games ) to Buffalo ( 62 in 10 games ) and rank 1st in returns allowed ( 32 55.2% ) to Buffalo's 2nd ( 30 48.4% ). The Ravens are 22nd in GAVG ( 44.8 ) and 28th in NAVG ( 37.5 ). 19th in return average allowed ( 9.6 ).

A couple strong returns by Hester could be big in this game.
