They changed the rules for taking out the guy at second base too supposedly after Utley took a guy out in the playoffs as well as a Cubs player knocking the Pirates SS out for the year with a slide. If I understand it, if you take a guy out at second base you automatically get called out as well. If that's the case, that isn't any deterrent.
mlb.com is decent if you're at work and need to watch a game... sometimes espn.com or cbssportsline.com too.
I agree with the changes. Those slides into second that are no where near the base to take a guy out are ridiculous. I think baseball should be a non contact sport.
well light contact with glove to body is fine. body to body like utley or the one on posey a few years back or the elbow to head from albert belle is crapola!
http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/1...-cost-game?ex_cid=sportscenterFB&sf23862522=1 well here is 1 guy that hates the new utley rule!
Agree! He reached out with his hand and grabbed him. Thats interference no matter what the rule is or was........
Pirates picked up new FA pitcher and he starts tonight. He was being used by the Dodgers last year in the bullpen. He had a helluva spring training giving up no runs in 15 innings. So the Bucs are putting him in the 4th spot. His name is Juan Nicasio and he looked good during spring. Locke will pitch the next game and Cole will pitch the 5th game due to coming in late for some reason. Which is why he didn't pitch yesterday......Get the brooms out!
BTW-nice crowd at PNC Park - no one was in the outfield seats last night. I know it's cold out but the lack of fan support this opening weekend across MLB Stadiums is absolutely pathetic!
That's just the way it is these 1st few weeks. Nobody wants to sit in 40 degree weather to watch baseball.
They'll sell out when the all the older and younger kids are out of college and school Fish......They never sell out when school's not out. Unless it's a nice weekend.........
lame reason igloo. when the phils had their playoff run they sold out 3 million advance sale tix by MARCH! Sold out the entire season by April in 08, 09 and 2010!
