considering they need SP arms, it's not a bad plugin. he's not kershaw but for a non-contending team, he's fine.

lol, dont sell yourself short. You have new management and new players coming in and a fine mix of youth... your getting closer to being a 'maja playa' (did i just say that).

Hellickson may turn out to be better than average and at least give you some QS which is all you can ask for.

oh i know Will. i love the move. a cheap low risk move with a potential upside. nice move by the GM. the key is having the players from the Hamels trade really work out for the Phils. Not 1, all of them. With Franco, Nola, Crawford, Quinn and the Hamels guys, you can really rebuild quickly. Plus contrary to what my mean brother said last night, I think if the Phils need a guy or two in 2017, the owner will just buy them! Sorry, but not every team besides the Cardinals are built from within. Look at the Champion Royals - they needed help. They go out and get Johnny Cueto! You sometimes need that big name player! I am sure the Phils will be buyers come 17 to fill in the remaining pieces to their team.

plus - hearing huge rumors of the Phils getting offers for closer Ken Giles, who makes little money and is under control till 2017 or 2019! heard the phils will deal him if given the right deal, which expects to be somewhat big. i love it. we don't need Giles now, so deal him!

Opening Day 2016 will feature a combined seven national ESPN telecasts -- three on Sunday, April 3, and four on Monday, April 4 -- Commissioner Rob Manfred announced on Thursday at the end of Major League Baseball's quarterly Owners Meetings in Dallas.

Those seven games will include the participation of all 10 clubs that played in the 2015 postseason. It starts with a televised tripleheader on that Sunday: Cardinals at Pirates at 1:05 p.m. ET, Blue Jays at Rays at 4:05 ET (ESPN2), and then a World Series rematch of Mets at Royals in the exclusive ESPN "Sunday Night Baseball" national opener at 8:35 ET.

before WAR and OPS were popular nuance stats, i grew up a Triple Crown Category kid. If you led in the TC categories, you should be MVP.

After the AL MVP vote last night, i changed my mind. Trout blew away Donaldson in war and ops and had a ton of HRs too. JD had more runs and rbis and little else. To me Trout got hosed again for MVP.

    This article says it best...

I think the voters are skewed as well as the author of the Yahoo article who is clearly a Trout fan. He said the Cabrera MVP over Trout was laughable... that statement in and of itself is showing clear bias.

Anyway, the voters probably got it wrong if you just look at the numbers, but in my opinion, they clearly have an agenda to keep it all about what he did for his team, the League and such. I dont necessarily agree with that either because the numbers didnt lie or paint a false misconception of Mike Trouts season.

it's odd but that wasn't the only time i've seen a quote like that or something like it about miggy's and trouts mvp race that year. many felt trout should win, but didn't.

to me Will, if they are going to praise WAR and OPS then vote on them for Pete's sakes. If not, then stop bringing them up in every conversation. to me based on the overall body of work - Trout got robbed.
