This is a can't have it both ways situation. If you are going to allow runners to go after the 2B, the trade off is the neighborhood play. If you are going to cut down on take out slides then I agree with you.
i'm here to advocate one way, not both ways. outs should be recorded by tagging the runner or the base in a timely manner. in my opinion, awarding an out for almost/kinda doing something is absurd. i'm sorry, but you just struck out. what? that pitch was outside. yes it was - but it was also near the strike zone.
Oh I know you are Lulz. Just saying that as the rule is now its safer to have the neighborhood play. If they legislate out take out slides then it should go away.
Lulz it's situation for how the runner got to the bag. If he catches it near the bag they'll call the neighborhood play. It's a safety thing. I have a feeling it and the aggressive late or off the base slide will be removed this offseason. Too many close calls and minor injuries this year before finally getting a nasty one the other day in the playoffs. Utley was ruled safe after because they say the toss to 2nd base wasn't to a guy at the plate. Now I call BS there because when he caught it it was right there and he almost touched the bag even. That is a neighborhood play and how it could be reversed is an insult added tot hat injury. Soon that interpretation should be removed from baseball. Gotta tag 2nd and no takeout slides when you are certainly out.
Any else ever noticed there are 10 blue teams in the AL? Toronto, New York, Tampa Bay, kansas City, Minnesota, Cleveland, Detroit, Texas, Houston, and Seattle. Even Boston has Blue hats, but I'll call them red.
Yankees and Astros I think have them as alternates. But yes lots of Blue in the AL. Discount those and the NL is close with the Red ones with 5 or 6 plus the Cubs which is more of an accent.
well utley got the boot. mets want more justice. 2 game 5's are coming and more baseball is ahead... makes for good television...
didn't he sit last night? all i care about is hamels for texas in game 5. win or bust for either team! go rangers!
He has been sitting the past 2 games, but not from suspension, just from the manager not wanting him in the lineup.
after the go ahead HR by Jose Bautista they threw trash and beer bottles on the field - mind you they were the HOME TEAM AND WINNING! The game wasn't over. People from the upper deck who missed the field due to distance were hitting people below them by accident. Encarnocion tried to get the crowd to stop and the pitcher thought he was trying to pump them up and led to benches being emptied. the Rangers coach wanted the cops to start arresting people. total joke. the game wasn't even in the 9th inning! far from over to pull that shit.
