the phils recent win streak has cost them the #1 draft pick currently in the standings. not happy! start losing you bums!

people actually think they can make a playoff run. are they on crack ? just lose and get the pick. sadly no harper or trout in next year's draft, but a top pick is a top pick so go out and get it!

 

The Phils are 22 games below .500, it'd be a miracle to get back to .500 much less a playoff spot.

i don't think they're tanking at all. they just stink! core of unproven youth and a few old farts who make way too much money. a idiotic gm to boot is a trifecta to badness.

tanking is what the rays and nationals did year in and year out to get the top picks. 3 of the guys in the hamels trade are doing well in the minors and with the phils prospects, the future looks bright.

 

How are you certain the Rays and Nationals tanked, but not Philly? Where do i draw the line here?

easy will - how many top picks did they have ? harper and strasburg were both #1's. for the rays, josh hamilton was #1 and im sure they had others. both teams were near the bottom every damn year. they never got better. top pick after top pick and still dead last. ok so maybe not TANKING but very bad baseball for years and years.

phils weren't dead last year. phils had the 7th pick last year. now this year they are bad, but tanking? look at the roster.

the phils won't be in the cellar for 10 yrs like the rays and nats were. that's how they're not tanking. this year every magazine had them being the worst team and they are. by 2017 the money of ruiz, howard and utley is off the books. they have a new owner with deep pockets and the light is there in 2017 and 2018 for the phils. the rays and nats stunk for years. almost a damn decade of losing.

 

I see and hear what your saying, but isnt it just possible for a team to flat out suck for a while? Astro's, Braves are just two examples.

Im not saying your wrong, i just find it hard to believe in multiple seasons if not decades of tanking. Whomever is responsible for this type of action in any sport should be taken to court by the fans. Or out behind the woodshed !

glad u figured it out. wasn't ignoring this, i had to do something unpleasant today - work.

but, considering it was my first trip to a customer site in 18 months, it was actually fine - because i had virtually everything done sitting in this chair here before i left.

had to bypass one construction zone completely, and had to drive thru another. the second was sofa king satisfying - a lane blocked on a busy interstate for a mile for absolutely no reason. no equipment, no trucks, no union guys standing around in big groups drinking coffee, smoking, chatting, NOT working - no nothing but an unusable lane on a major highway in the middle of a weekday. smooth, guys.

the biggest work of the day was hauling the server into their building. brought it in, put it in place, attached monitor keyboard mouse and network. moved a couple of plugs to different outlets on battery backup unit. turned machine on. ate pizza and socialized till rush hour traffic was over.

but my favorite moment of the day came on the way down, in between the 2 construction zones *WALL*

there's an outfit called K12 which wants u to let THEM teach your kids. they were patting themselves on the back as "an option to public schools."

personally, if i were deciding who to have teaching my kids, i'd go with people who understood wtf the difference between "option" and "alternative" was. again, real smooth.
