i had baez and yelich and traded them both. baez had a terrible starting month and was dogshit. i traded yelich after july 30th. both are killing me now. im im the finals and could use their bats. to me both are worthy of mvp or co-mvps.

    Trout rankings

    AVG - 4th
    HR - 4th
    RBI - 26th

    OPS - 1st
    oWAR - 1st
    wRC+ - 1st

So tell me again which set of stats I should use to back up the assertion that Trout is the best player in the league?

i know he's the best overall player since wilie mays or mantle. i dont need a computer to tell me that. you have MLB your way and i'll have it my way. now you're just being you u dog and nitpicking that his tc stats arent great this year but his sabermetrics stats are bc i like tc stats. i could it something else but i wont. it's friday

So you don't need any stats at all, then, just your eyes. That's fine, too, but then don't try to say that traditional stats are more "real" than sabermetric ones is all. They're all what they are...different ways of trying to quantify what your eyes are telling you they see qualitatively, and maybe in some instances highlighting some things you don't see. I'm not nitpicking anything.

I think we live in an age where the computer plays a role in quantifying or painting a picture with higher definition and quality. You could say Johnny hit 25 HR's, drove in 120 RBI and hit .300 and stop there, but what's wrong with enhancements that tells an even more detailed analysis of what went on. Stats are just that... different ways a measurements to find and clarify and quantify scenarios. Its nice an individual has the choice to choose just how deep to take something.

I like complete games, pitchers' duels, day games on grass, a well-placed bunt, and pitchers that can hit. So, yeah, I kinda resent the implication that if I also enjoy sabermetric analysis I'm not a baseball purist.

I believe, for what its worth, you can be a purist of the game and a stat guy all at the same time, because, I am!

DENVER -- Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon accomplished the ninth cycle in Rockies history on Sunday against the Nationals, as the Rockies routed the Nationals, 12-0, setting up a Monday tiebreaker with the Dodgers for the National League West title.

Blackmon lashed a triple in the first inning and homered for two runs in the third off Nats starter Erick Fedde. Blackmon added a fifth-inning infield single off Tim Collins, and completed the cycle with a double off Nats righty Kyle McGowin in the eighth.

i said i don't need a computer, not stats. like i said you have your baseball you way broken down to the minute level and i'll have it mine. i never said anything about stats being more real than sabermetric stats. i just think they are broken down to a minute level. and TC stats are just simpler. for what 80, 90 yrs, there was no sabermetrics and baseball was just fine. the number crunches got involved and now you have all these extra stats to define a player. i don't need all that.

you're a number cruncher, stat guy and purist.

MLB History yesterday - 4 teams tie with the same record and there will be 2 extra games to determine who makes the MLB Playoffs. Wow.

  15. Underdog Franchise Player Patriots

The teams are decided. All the teams playing today are in the playoffs, it's just a question of who the WC's are and who the division champs are in the NL West and Central. Nobody will be eliminated today. Whoever loses the Rox/Dodgers game today will play tomorrow at whoever loses the Brewers/Cubs game. They should just use the H2H record as the tiebreaker instead of just for determining who hosts the games today. If you beat the other team 11 or 12 times out of 19, you shouldn't have to play an extra game, and potentially get stuck having to travel to play the WC game when you should have home field for a division series.
