reports are saying Phils are moving in on Arrieta and they called Lynn, but the sides are far apart. Good work it out and get both. Or Cobb. The Phils can't go into the season with Nola as the #1 and 4 unknowns. They need help. Any help. I would sign Will and his bad arm I'm that desperate.

for those who dislike Ty Cobb, please go to that link and read the 5 page story on the REAL TY COBB. Most of what you think you know is all lies. Anything from Al Stump is a lie. This is a small sample of the real truths about Tyrus Raymond Cobb.
Ichiro close to signing deal with Mariners... Royals sign Jon Jay to a one year deal... Athletics release Brandon Moss...
The Rangers have reportedly inked Cuban center fielder Julio Pablo Martinez for the remaining $2.8 million in their international bonus pool.
Report: Lance Lynn turned down two-year, $20 million offer from Twins Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the Twins recently offered free agent starter Lance Lynn a two-year, $20 million contract but the right-hander turned in down. In Berardino’s word, the offer was a “non-starter.” Lynn, 30, finished up a three-year, $22 million contract with the Cardinals that ranged from 2015-17. While he was plenty productive, compiling a 3.24 ERA across 361 2/3 innings, he also missed the entire 2016 campaign recovering from Tommy John surgery. Lynn is joined by Jake Arrieta and Alex Cobb among free agent starters still available. It seems likely that Lynn will have to eventually settle for less money and/or fewer years than he was anticipating. He could potentially take a one-year contract and test his luck in the free agent market again next season as well.
u dog - I wish. I think their GM is totally outmatched and he thinks he's the smartest guy I'm the room when he's the dumbest. I have 0 faith in McPhail and Klentak.
Noah Syndergaard continued his spring dominance in machine-like fashion on Thursday, striking out seven straight batters en route to 3 1/3 scoreless innings against the Nationals. Keeping his fastball comfortably perched in the -- ho hum -- upper 90s at FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, Syndergaard set down Trea Turner, Bryce Harper and Anthony Rendon in order in the third inning after quelling a two-on, none-out rally in the second with three straight whiffs. Hitting 101 mph early in the game, Syndergaard threw most of his fastballs at a more manageable 96-98 mph, relying heavily on his off-speed pitches. __________ ______________________ Sounds like someone is ready...
The A's have reached a one-year deal with veteran catcher Jonathan Lucroy, a source has told MLB.com's Jane Lee. The club hasn't confirmed the agreement. Arguably this winter's top free-agent catcher, Lucroy is a logical addition for a club seeking more consistency at the position. Oakland will not have to give up any talent via a trade or Draft pick compensation since Lucroy was ineligible for a qualifying offer.
Twins sign Lance Lynn Free agent right-hander Lance Lynn has agreed to a one-year, $12 million deal with the Twins, per multiple reports from Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports and MLB Network’s Jon Morosi. The contract includes an additional $2 million in potential performance bonuses, bringing the total estimated value to $14 million. The club has yet to confirm the signing. Lynn, 30, was originally pegged to receive something in the neighborhood of a four-year, $50+ million contract this offseason. Morosi points out that the righty received richer offers from multiple teams, but “preferred the fit” in Minnesota and believed in the Twins’ chances of contending in 2018. It’s also worth noting that the Twins had allegedly reached out with a two-year, $20 million offer last month, one that he ultimately refused in hopes of securing a longer commitment and higher annual value. Lynn completed a six-year stint with the Cardinals in 2017, pitching to an 11-8 record in 33 starts with a 3.43 ERA, 3.8 BB/9 and 7.4 SO/9 in 186 1/3 innings. It was a strong showing from the right-hander, who underwent Tommy John surgery in November 2015 and was shelved through the entirety of the 2016 season. When healthy, however, he’s consistently turned in sub-4.00 ERAs and 3.0+ fWAR from year to year, and figures to feature prominently in a four-man rotation that already includes right-handers Jose Berrios, Jake Odorizzi and Kyle Gibson.
Busted... Royals outfielder Jorge Bonifacio has been suspended for 80 games without pay, the league announced Saturday. Bonifacio tested positive for the performance-enhancing substance Boldenone; his first such violation. General manager Dayton Moore issued a statement following the decision (via MLB.com’s Jeffrey Flanagan): This obviously [is] a very disappointing situation for the Royals, our fans and Jorge. He is an incredible person who just made a mistake. Jorge will have our full support as he deals with the consequences of this violation. Manager Ned Yost added that he felt “kind of sick to [his] stomach” thinking about the suspension, given Bonifacio’s role on the team and the connection he made with members of the organization. The 24-year-old was in the mix to begin the season as the Royals’ starting right fielder, a responsibility he’ll forfeit until June at the earliest. He’s coming off of his first major league season with the club, during which he batted .255/.320/.432 with 17 home runs and a .752 OPS in 422 plate appearances. In his absence, the Royals should have an easier time assembling an outfield from some combination of Jon Jay, Alex Gordon, Jorge Soler, Paulo Orlando, Hunter Dozier and Bubba Starling.
You got your man, Catfish! Report: Phillies sign Jake Arrieta to three-year, $75 million deal Arrieta will earn $30 million, $25 million, and $20 million across his three-year deal. He can opt out of his contract after the second year. The deal also includes two options that can bring the value of the deal between $125 million and $135 million.
haha Will yes Phils got him. Perfect for the years. Money is irrelevant as the Phils have tons of it and $25 mil is perfect and not Darvish money. This is huge as it takes the burden of being an Ace to Aaron Nola, who is not a true #1. If they can land 1 more lower tier SP, then that helps the rotation as you know what you have in Nola, but the rest besides Arrieta are all question marks. Arrieta, Nola and Cobb is a nice front 3 to me. Hell, I could be their 5th man and be ok. hahahaha. I didn't know about Lynn till I read your post just now. Damn. I wanted the Phils to have both Arrieta and Lynn. Now it's time to get Cobb but that will cost the Phils a draft pick and I believe $500,000 on International Bonus money.
