i feel for u and your brother, cat, but in general, i view the bee thing as good news. there has been a marked decline in bee populations over the last few years, and people don't realize how important bees are for agriculture.
lulz-then u get stung over 20 times at 8 yrs old and then tell me how great they are. lol. thankfully our Dad was a Medic in WWII at the Battle of the Bulge and knew what to do when he saw us with all the sting marks. He had some crap in the bathroom closet for it. The next day he and my 3 older brothers dug up the bee hive and destroyed them all. igloo - u keep saying "his ridiculous contract." compared to others who never won a ws, it's not that bad. and it's prospects. they are moving away from the players. you're the only one who thinks his deal is bad. teams would kill to have a lefty for $92 mil and not the $140-200 others will get. i don't see how you can't see the economics in this. and here is the latest on cliff lee - Cliff Lee Will Attempt To Pitch With Torn Flexor Tendon By Jeff Todd [March 10, 2015 at 12:25pm CDT] After a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews, Cliff Lee will attempt to pitch through a torn flexor tendon for the Phillies, GM Ruben Amaro Jr. told reporters including Ryan Lawrence of the Philadelphia Daily News (links to Twitter). A surgical option (not Tommy John) would be the next step if Lee experiences discomfort. Amaro says that the team is ?not terribly optimistic? that such a surgical result can be avoided. If he goes under the knife, Lee would be expected to miss six to eight months. Obviously that would mean a lost season, which would presumably also bring an end to his contract with the Phillies. Lee is under control for 2016 through a vesting/club option, but it would not be triggered if he misses the year and the club would be unlikely to pick it up at $27.5MM (against a $12.5MM buyout). At this point, it is difficult to foresee a way for the Phillies to recover any value for the veteran lefty. A deal this spring is all but unimaginable, of course. And looking ahead to the trade deadline or beyond, the risk may be too great to support a market. Even if Lee can somehow perform at his historical standards and a 200-inning pace ? the best case scenario ? the vesting clause (it hits at 200 innings pitched) would loom as a potentially massive obligation. Regardless of trades scenarios, it is unfortunate to see as great a player as Lee struggle to stay on the field at this stage of his career.
and igloo--how much do you wanna bet hamels is dealt? book it. texas, ny or boston is where he is headed. you think im crazy, put your money where your mouth is. i got $20 on he gets traded.
https://www.yahoo.com/makers/a-sweet-idea-reaps-millions-in-crowdfunding-112910077205.html speaking of bees. wow. $$$$$
OUCH! Marcus Stroman tore his ACL practicing fielding bunts in spring training. Jays are looking to fill the hole in the rotation internally since GM Alex Anthopolous just said they think there is only one guy available externally but they think he's too expensive. Aaron Sanchez, the projected closer, is expected to be the lead candidate.
I think trading away much for Hamels is a bad deal too, I think it's likely someone does it anyway though. Some big market team that can afford to make mistakes will take the risk.
mut-it will be the yankees. they wanna top the AL East and with Tanaka's health at total suspect mode, Hamels will do it. And again Hamels at $92 mil vs scherzer at $200 mil and price at over $200 mil next year is very reasonable. prospects are total risks, gambles and unchartered territory. NY will give the Phils what they want. i can't wait to see Blake Swihart crap out for Boston.
If (when) Hamels goes, it'll be at the trade deadline. Yankees won't be in the playoff hunt this year, so it won't be them.
No, I wouldn't bet you Fish because there are always some dumbass teams out there. And I can't do nothing about that. Just like the Dolphins paying Suh almost as much as a QB, it will change the whole landscape of NFL contracts......And most teams wouldn't pay that much to Scherzer either. That's why he is where he is......
They had a special on Pivot last night (one of those weird channels on cable), about the food we eat and buy at the supermarket and the way they feed the animals and the way the top companies screw the farmers. They also talked about how important bee's are to what we eat and how the pesticides used are killing off the bee's. The bee's have to pollinate some fruits and vegetables. Was very interesting and if you ever watch it, you might not want to eat meat again. Every company they contacted had no comment!
igloo--a kid who i worked with saw something like that and stopped eating meat the next day. he lost like 30 lbs and eats veggies and tofu and crap like that. he then saw the knife and fork diet or video and was so happy he never ate meat again. we all die sometime...might as well die happy eating bad stuff we love so much! eating tofu etc is better for you but are you happy? not to me. give me my mf'ing bacon cheeseburger on my deathbed!
