Mike Trout has a torn thumb ligament, could require?surgery

Yesterday Mike Trout left the Marlins-Angels game after hurting his thumb while sliding head first into second base. After the game the Angels talked about it as if it were just a sprain. Trout had an MRI today, however, and the diagnosis is far worse: he has a torn thumb ligament.

While a treatment option has not yet been chosen, surgery is a possibility. A certainty is that he?ll miss, at the very least, several weeks of play. He has been placed on the disabled list for the first time in his career.

 

SAN FRANCISCO ??Nationals slugger Bryce Harper and San Francisco reliever Hunter Strickland both landed punches to the head during a wild brawl that erupted Monday after a hit by pitch.

Harper was hit in the right hip by Strickland?s 98 mph fastball in the eighth inning with Washington ahead 2-0.
Harper pointed the bat toward Strickland, charged the mound and fired his batting helmet wide of the pitcher. They started to swing away and they each connected as the benches and bullpens emptied.

At least two Giants players forcefully dragged Strickland from the middle of the brawl all the way into the dugout. Harper and Strickland were both ejected.

And Harper reclaims the top spot in his mid-Atlantic douche-off with Manny Machado...

What a clown. What a hardo loser clown. Whiffed on the helmet chuck and got clocked twice in the face without landing a punch lmao what a toolbag.

edit - after re-watching it for the Posey reaction, it does look like Capt. Hardo did get one glancing shot in to Strickland's face. Strickland got knocked down by his own teammates rushing in.

btw-notice Buster Posey doing nothing ? He doesn't stop Harper nor goes after him. He stands behind home plate?? Interesting.

 

Poor Hunter Pence was one of them and got his face smooshed into the protective fence.

moreo n strickland and harper. seems like strickland has been harboring about this for 3 long years. insane and it took 3 guys to get him off the field? better check him for roids ! he looked like a crazed nut being dragged off the field. roid rage anyone?

 

yeah but isn't it the catchers job to stop the hitter from going out there? even if strickland was deserving of a beatdown, that's posey's teammate. so you let harper beat him up? doesn't sound like a team captain to me.

 

He may have thought Capt. Hardo was just gonna jaw and not charge initially.

Or maybe he just knew that Hardo is a bitch poser and Strickland didn't need any actual protection.

Except from his own teammates bumrushing the mound lol.

 

I'll give Hardo credit for not crumpling like a cheap chaise lounge like Bautista, at least. Strickland gave him two good shots to the face while he was flailing away like a 4 year old throwing a temper tantrum at the grocery store, and he stayed up.

Major League Baseball wasted little time before announcing the penalties for Monday?s benches-clearing brawl between the Washington Nationals and San Francisco Giants.

The incident was sparked by an eighth-inning pitch from Giants reliever Hunter Strickland that hit the Nationals? Bryce Harper. An enraged Harper charged the mound, where he and Strickland exchanged a couple punches before their teammates swarmed.

Joe Torre, Chief Baseball Officer or Major League Baseball announced Tuesday evening that Strickland has received a six-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for intentionally hitting Harper with a pitch, inciting the incident. Harper was given a four-game suspension for charging the mound, throwing his helmet and fighting.

 

Hardo ? You mean Hairdo?

 

the best part of the fight is when Harper tosses his helmet it goes in the opposite direction from strickland. it was like 50 cents pitch from the mound and away from the catcher. hahaha

I got no quarrel if you want to characterize Strickland as a hardo, too, but I was referring to the other guy...the one who couldn't throw a punch (or a helmet) properly and then pretended to be held back by Ryan Zimmerman.
