He's going cheap again this year and not spending any money to better the team. So are the Bucs headed back to square 1? I'm not expecting much this year from them.....Maybe in another 20 years from now if I'm not popping up daisies by then.....

Pirates need pitching........They are going to arbitration with Tony Watson over $400,000, their closer who didn't have as good a year as in the past and he's not getting any younger.........I wonder who will win? But talk about cheap! Playing for Nutting is like playing for the Dollar Store!!!!!

 

love this. so true. the phils and flyers have buckets of money and as of now the flyers have spent a lot but they will have more this summer.

the phils have no more loaded contracts. no more howard, utley, rollins, hamels etc. they got mike saunders for 1 yr. where is the spending?

Cardinals to sign Carlos Martinez to a five-year, $51 million contract?extension

Martinez has been nothing if not consistent, posting a 3.01 ERA in 2015 and a 3.04 ERA last season. He also went 16-9 with a 174/70 K/BB ratio over 195 1/3 innings. Among qualified starters, only Noah Syndergaard (97.9 MPH) and Yordano Ventura (96.1 MPH) had a higher average fastball velocity than Martinez?s 95.6 MPH.

The Indians are doing well also...

Ken Rosenthal reports that the Indians have reached a one-year deal with free agent reliever Boone Logan, making an already excellent bullpen even better.

Logan posted a 3.69 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 57/20 K/BB ratio across 46.1 innings last season for the Rockies. No imagine him not pitching in Coors Field. As it was he held left-handed batters to line of .142/.222/.255.

Logan will join Cody Allen, Andrew Miller, Bryan Shaw, and Dan Otero in the Tribe?s bullpen.
