the Cubs obviously needed to win, so they called on Chapman for 3 innings. Can he pitch like that with a lead for games 6 & 7? Indians need to win game 6 to avoid the pressure cooker of collapsing in game 7 to Cubs nation. so was the $1500-20,000 worth it to see a WS game at Wrigley? That's a lot of coin. And the bars/restaurants holding seats for $50-500 too. Capitalism at it's finest.
If the Cubs get a lead, will Chapman come in the game in the 7th again? Seems risky to push his workload with the Cubs needed to win 2 games. If the Cubs win tonight, it's winner take all for game 7 where everyone is ready - tired or not.
He's a FA and probably going back to NY...what do they care if they burn him up? It's win or go golfing...if they get to the 7th with a lead, does Maddon really want to pin his season on Pedro Strop or Mike Montgomery or Carl Edwards or Travis Wood with Chapman sitting there? Worry about tomorrow tomorrow. Lester can go the last 3 tomorrow if he has to.
and rondon too. see that's why you need to get a lead and win tonight if your cleveland. although kluber has been great, you don't want them to run out lester and chapman for 6 innings and win. end it now. lets say the cubs win tonight and chapman goes 1-2 innings or even 3. will he still have the same velocity on no rest for tomorrow night? he seems like he's a bull, so im guessing hell yes. another reason to win tonight.

I doubt you see Rondon unless the Cubs are losing by 10. Joe has completely lost faith in him. What the beat writers are saying about the Cubs bp: Joe is OK with Chapman, Montgomery, and Edwards. In that order. He thinks they can get righties and lefties out. Chapman for 2 innings max today. Grim would be if there is trouble on the bases is in the 6th or earlier. Strop is OK for righties only - problem with that is the Indians have a lot of switch hitters. Wood is for lefties only. Lackey and Lester are options, but I doubt you see Lackey. I think that is everyone.
Don't forget Country Joe West is behind the plate. Hopefully no theatrics there. Baez and Contreras have looked particularly bad. Off speed pitches from righties is Baez's kryptonite. I hope he can take a walk or lay down a bunt tonight. Heyward has had some good at bats and once he is on base he can push the issue. With those 2 batting 8 and 9, I would like to see a lot of havoc during their at bats and with Schwarber batting 2, there is potential there.
Little surprised he used Chapman at all today. I figured with the lead and having used him to get 8 outs last game even with the day in between you save him for tomorrow. Save for when my team is playing I love game 7s no matter the sport.
I hated the use of Chapman. But what do I know. I would have thought Lackey could have come in and gotten 2 good innings with a 5 run lead. Love that we are going to Game 7! Bring it on! Go Cubs!
8:00 PM ET Game 7 Cubs Kyle Hendricks (R) @ Indians Corey Kluber (R) Considering the two teams involved and their history... this is going to be an epic game 7 WS for the ages.
I hope so, as game 6 stunk. That game was over at 3-0. The Tribe better get a lead bc with game 7, you will see Lester and Chapman and the kitchen sink if necessary to win. Ironic that 2 teams who haven't won in over 60 years go to a game 7 for all the marbles. Nothing is easy. Cleveland had it and let it slip away to 1 game for it all. Will it be like 1991 and that epic game 7? We shall see... Good luck to both teams. -Go Tribe!
Gonna come down to which team can get their starter through 5 innings. If they both do, that favors the Indians because their big bullpen guns are rested.
