8 days ago, people wondered when we would see the dominant Kershaw in the playoffs. Yesterday Dodgers fans are convinced the Cubs have no shot at beating Kershaw in Game 6. What a difference a week makes. That said - the Cubs hadn't seen Kershaw this year until Game 2. The Cubs do better with pitchers they have a history with. Bryant in particular is great at making adjustments. Case in point Bryant vs Chris Sale. Until the all-star game, he was 0-6 with 6 Ks. Bryant homered against him the at bat during the all-star game. Then hit him well as couple weeks later. However, I will not feel good about the Cubs making the World Series until that last out. 2003 is hanging over my fandom. It didn't matter until now. But game 6, Wrigley, what could go wrong. This team is better. They are mentally tough. They are loose. The players were in Little League in 2003. I need to be a mentally tougher fan.
Kershaw better be Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson and Warren Spahn all rolled into one for game 6 of else it's vacation time for LA. Cubs have a deep team where any hitter can beat you. They're not built on just Rizzo and Bryant. They got others who can help and go deep if needed. I'm envious as the Phillies are so far away from being contenders or even pretenders.
I think the Phillies are doing a great job so far rebuilding. A lot of young kids that can hit .They lack pitching like the Pirates. So considering every team is looking for good pitching, they'll have depend on the farm system, as the Pirates did this past season. And hope they get better with each and every outing...... Edit: Unless your team is major market and without a cap, you'll have to pay out 100's of millions to pick up some aces and good bullpen pitchers. As the Cubs pretty much did right before last year. But they also got lucky with Arietta......Have to have some luck also or the team will be stuck with a big contract that nobody will want to trade for. Like Price and his playoff record.....
I think if the Cubs can stay in the game and get to the Bullpen they might have a shot. Ultimately, the Cubs would like to knock Kershaw around early, but that is very unlikely. Kershaw does have a rubber arm so if the Cubs win this it will have been very difficult and quite impressive.
It also has to do with who is developing your talent. You have to have the right people who see things in people others don't. Javy was not known as a game changing defender in the minors. Joe took one look at him and said wow he can play anywhere - he's my next Ben Zobrist. Then he got Javy to buy in too. Chris Boston is a genius with pitchers.
Cubs activate Kyle Schwarber from the 60 day DL today and sent him to Arizona for a simulated game on Sunday. If the Cubs advance to the WS he could be activated to DH. (Although not a given)
OMG! The Cubs pulled it off and crush Kershaw! 5-0, Cubs win. Cubs pitchers game face the minimum - 3 hits were erased by double plays and an error erased by a pickoff. Holy crap we are going to the WS. Bring on the Indians. Someone's going break a crazy long WS drought.
No one really mentioning the Indians non-WS streak. Should be a battle of 2 solid teams. I hate to admit it, but the Cubs are just too deep to lose. I want them to lose, but I can't see them losing, unless they beat themselves with bad plays, no hitting or errors. the call.... Cubs in 5 - I want Indians in 7!

Have to go with any team from the N.L. because thats where the Pirates reside. Besides, the A.L. has been winning the All Star Game every year.......
What are you listening to that no one else is talking about the Indians streak? Everything I've listened to/read talks about both.
Well, where do you live? I live outside of Philly and on ESPN, ESPN News, Fox Sports 1 (FS1), Comcast and NBCSN is all Cubs.
I would kind of like to see the Indians win because this might be a one shot deal for them, whereas the Cubs are well-positioned to be back there again at least another time or two in the next few years. But either way it's a win-win for me...either Tito, Nap, Coco, and Miller get another one, or Lester, Ross, and Theo do. So hopefully it's just a well-played entertaining series regardless.
Funny I listen to Espn Radio out of Chicago and they talk about both droughts. The promos talk about both droughts. So I'm confused that Chicago talks about Cleveland's drought. Mike and Mike talk about it. Golic can't stop talking about it.
