WASHINGTON -- Short-handed, short-rested, the Dodgers don't care. They've been finding a way all season, and on Thursday night, they found a way to Chicago. With Clayton Kershaw on one day of rest getting the last two outs for the save, they barely held on in an epic battle to beat the Nationals, 4-3, and win the decisive Game 5 of the National League Division Series. The Dodgers advanced to the NL Championship Series against the Cubs that starts Saturday at Wrigley Field ...
wow - kershaw comes through and shuts down the nats. i love the look on scherzer's face. haha. sorry but as a phillies fan, i hate the nationals. bring on the cubbies.
The Blue Jays won all their World Series titles most recently. The Dodgers won all theirs before Blue Jays 1st. The Indians won all theirs before the Dodgers 1st. The Cubs won all theirs before the Indians 1st.
I would say expect the Dodgers and Cubs series to have a lot of pitching changes. While the Cubs only have one lefty starter, I would not be surprised if they carry 4 lefties in the pen (welcome to the playoffs Rob Zastryzny) and potentially Montgomery gets a start over Lackey or Lackey and Hendricks get very quick hooks. Roberts and Maddon play matchups. The Cubs perform well with rest. Wind is supposed to be blowing out Saturday night and possibly Sunday. That will factor into the games. Jake performs exceptional in California. It is going to be nerve racking.
Cubs, Dodgers and Indians, Blue Jays... how freaking cool is this. For me, if I drew it up, this is exactly how it would be for the Championship series. My wish of a Cubs Indians WS is still in tacked.
well i know who i'll be rooting in this weekend... i still think the giants had the best chance to beat chicago, but they're out on the golf course. LA has to come on strong now as kershaw may not pitched till game 4 or 5 now. jays-indians. people are wanting a cubs win since they haven't won since 1908 etc. how about the poor indians? what was it 1954 with feller, wynn and satchel paige? that's damn long. until the cavs won this june, cleveland has suffered a lot in all of sports. at least chicago has 3 recent Stanley Cups from the Blackhawks, 6 NBA Titles from the Bulls, 1 SB from the Bears and 1 WS from the White Sox. That's a lot of winning! Cleveland has 1 title and that's it since the 60's. that's a lot of losing. now cubs-indians - wow. winning breaks the streak! loser just adds to it. haha. espn reaired their thing on bartman last night. i think another reason why i am rooting against the Cubs in the whole Bartman thing. He was not the only fan to touch that ball and yet the poor guy has been MIA ever since. Sad.
he pitched on 1 game rest and was hurt this year. unless LA wants to lose him to injury they better be smart here. rushing him back after a bad injury this year is not smart business. you're risking losing him again in 2017.
I dont think they care if his arm falls off... its all about the championship. The fact that Kershaw was out this season, just gave him more time to get stronger.
he was hurt. he was on rest and rehab. i wouldn't say that makes him stronger. he probably makes game 4. possibly game 3, but not 1 and 2 obviously. and after what happened to dave dravecky, no way he sees action bf game 3 and that's pushing it. remember his track record in the playoffs is not the greatest, so the rest he needs. he doesn't need to push it to game 2 or 3.
Cleveland can suck it. If they don't win tonight with Kluber they could put themselves into a deep hole. And the Jays are the team Kluber has been the worst against the last few years.
People asked him to resurface last year. Fans said he should throw out the first pitch. According to someone who claims to represent him, he refused to go to the game that othwr people bought the ticket for him. Most fans understand it was a travesty what happened to him and it was 13 years ago. We've had this argument last year. You are fixated on it as a reason not to cheer for the Cubs. I would rather you didn't cheer for them because you don't like Javy or Joe or Contreras or Theo. But to dislike a fan base for one thing that most admit was wrong over a decade ago is being an ass. Especially when fans have tried to make it right in the last year.
