Fish, Alou was picked by the Pirates in the draft and traded to the Expo's. I remember not liking that trade. I think I was right in end. I forget who the Pirates got for him. I guess it could be looked up. He was a 5-tool player and I mostly remember him playing for the Cubs. I think he played for about 20 years......Big mistake, in my book, by the Pirates trading him..... *NO*

and he was the of'er with the bartman incident who screamed and blamed bartman when his fat ass wasn't getting to that ball over a brick wall. he apologized years later. bartman is still living in seclusion somewhere. to me there was more than 1 fan who went for the ball and it's clear in the video and yet he was the one ostracized by the city of Chicago.

  3. I guess LA shouldn't get a football team either by your logic. I mean Dickerson broke the rushing record for a playoff team and they were 17th in attendance out of 28 teams. And they lost 2 teams.

  4. Florida according to a documentary on him.

mut-why do you attack me? im just saying they were headed to the ws. that's all. i'm not in favor of any city getting a new team if they lost a previous one.

it's not my logic at all. i was just stating a point. i already stated i think the pro teams need to subtract teams, not add them, so im not in favor of montreal getting a new team.

sad. i read he got rid of his credit cards so people couldn't identify him if he used them. could you imagine living like that ?

  7. yes, i can imagine living without credit cards :p

  8. Not attacking you, just challenging your point. I think Montreal is a better location that a number of current markets.

lulz to the rescue. yeah i made the decision to sell off my prized card collection and with some of the money, i paid off all my credit cards, so i still have them, but all balances are 0. best thing i ever did.

  10. good man, cat (or is it good cat, man?)

credit cards are evil. if u want to buy something u can't afford at the moment, you're far better off getting a bank loan.

it's astonishing how mercenary the banks are with this shit.

yeah lulz - i mean the minimum payment or a little over wasn't working for me. so i sold every item i had and paid it all off and have about $7000 left over. and since i am out of the collecting hobby, im not buying more stuff every paycheck like a crack-whore on payday, so i am saving a ton of loot there too. best thing i ever did.

mut - if i could wipe the slate clean of all teams and pick what city would get a team i would love it. decide all factors of fan-base, money, support, revenue, owner etc. i would rearrange the landscape of pro sports and not just baseball.

get rid of these failing franchises and give it to those cities and fanbases who can really support a damn team!
no empty stadiums and shallow fan-bases.

  12. I have credit cards, pay them off every month. Just building a little credit for when I buy a house. Sadly most people don't use them that way.

no mut they don/t. like lulz said they buy what they can't afford.

  14. Basically credit cards are an enabler for financial irresponsibility.

  15. Ok I just happened across something I can't believe. So far this season NL parks are averaging about 5,000 more fans than AL parks per game. It's roughly 31,000 for NL and 26,000 for AL. What could be causing this?

  16. i'd take it a step further. they're more than an enabler, they're an encourager.

    The DH!!!!!!! :)

  18. Just did a little more research/number crunching into the topic. Coming into play today:

    NL:
    Games: 324
    Tickets sold: 10,157,534
    Average: 31,350.41

    AL: Games: 317
    Tickets sold: 8,499,482
    Average: 26,812.25

So basically the NL is selling 17% more tickets. Average MLB ticket price is $28.94. Using that price the NL would be $133,334.57 per game ahead of the AL in ticket revenues. Is the DH that big of a deal?

I'm going to look into other recent seasons soon but haven't gotten very far. In 2013 and 2014 the NL was 14% and 13% higher than the AL respectively.

in a pinch credit cards arent bad, but the abuse of them and filing for bankruptcy is unreal. when i was in college, companies were handing out credit card paperwork like candy and students were signing up for them left and right. i knew that was a bad sign to NOT sign up for them in college and wait till i had a job etc.

mlb attendance - not sure why it's different. great players in each league, but a ton of crappy players too.

    i dunno.

I have about 4 different credit cards and use 1. If you dump any, whether you use them or not, supposedly your credit score goes down. So I use 1 and the rest stay at $0.00. So I keep 3 but rarely use them. Much easier to pay 1 off than worry about 4 different ones coming in.......And my CC Score just went up from 807 to 811. And I basically never use the other 3.....
