I give him a break on Game 1. That ball was crushed, only the wind pushed it back (exit velocity was 107). It was the bottom of the 8th, he's allowed to show some excitement. Game 2, he was in the wrong and he paid for it. But he plays with a ton of heart, a ton of passion, sometimes he is over aggressive, over demonstrative. He's come a long way in 2 years, but he is still only 23. He'll get there. Ross, Rizzo, and Maddon don't put up with it. But I love the way he plays.
Well Texas run differential for the season was that of an 82 win team. I give them a lot of credit for finding ways to win, but I wasn't all that surprised they sacked in the playoffs.
San Francisco staved off elimination on Joe Panik's walk-off 2B, ending a 5-hour, 13-inning Gm. 3... 6-5 was the final. Cubs lead 2-1.
No surprise Suchholz let us down when it really mattered. $65+MM worth of starting pitchers and not one of them could get through 5 innings. Not the way to send Papi into retirement. At least Kimbrel pitched well. I felt all along like this team wasn't quite there yet, and replacing Ortiz is no small task, but the future for this team looks pretty bright. Lot of good young talent.
The Giants are like cockroaches. They just don't die. If you didn't stay up to watch it, Rondon and Chapman blew a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 8th. Top of the 9th Bryant (who says he's not clutch) it a 2 run home run to tie it 5-5. Cubs get 2 on with 1 out in the top of the 13, but David Ross grounds into a DP. Giants win it in the bottom of the 13th. While it wasted another couple hours of my life, I'm glad the Cubs just didn't roll over and die in the bottom of the 8th. Things unraveled fast in the 8th and for them to turn around and tie it says a lot. Battle tested Lackey goes tonight. I think Joe over thought himself some last night. And the Cubs had tons of opportunities against Bumgarner and to only get 3 runs was disappointing. I predict Bryant is going to have a HUGE night tonight.
U DOG - A plethora of talent pal. They are loaded for bear for the future. Need to tighten up the staff for '17 and they will be rolling.
the hell with the NFL right now, the baseball playoffs are the games to watch. wow. that Cubs-Giants game had it all! Great stuff.
that's why they have 3 WS titles in a 6 yr span. They know how to win - ugly or not. They even cut or get rid of players and every move works out for them! Their GM is a damn genius!

Price is a choke artist in the playoffs. Only win he has wasn't even a start. It was when Gibbons brought him in for Dickey when he pitched 4 2/3 innings and was leading.
I remember him being filthy pitching out of the bullpen for the Rays in '08 when he was first called up, but yeah he's been pretty awful otherwise. That was a big cause for concern when they signed him and he's only amplified those concerns. We'll just have to be hopeful that there is at least plenty of history of other star players that were postseason chokers until they weren't, and that someday he'll perform to his talent level when it matters the most.
