TORONTO -- Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson was set to undergo an MRI on his sore right hip Wednesday after missing his third consecutive game, general manager Ross Atkins said before Wednesday's 8-1 loss to the Rays at Rogers Centre. Donaldson jammed the hip while stepping on first base Sunday against the Red Sox, and has been undergoing treatment for several days. According to Atkins, his condition has not improved significantly.
not good if long term and they need the reigning MVP... speaking of Toronto, I read the may lose Bautista and Encarnacion to F/A in the off-season. Really? Would Toronto really let both walk? I don't see that happening...
In the Cubs pitching version of anything you can do, I can do better: Jon Lester went 8IP, 3H, 1BB, 0R and 1 RBI. No runner reached second base as David Ross threw out 2 guys trying to steal 2nd (and had a 2 run HR). He now has a 2.40 ERA. Second only to Hendricks.
http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/w...s-throw-at-fernandez-in-apparent-retaliation/ now this is from an incident or incidents from not this year, but 3 years ago? are you serious? get over it. this is what's wrong with baseball!
It only takes a spark to get a fire going... and the pitch to Markakis was just that spark. This is just old school baseball. These guy's are proud and dont forget when something is done intentionally.
Tigers still have a good shot and are in good position, Will. I don't follow the AL much but am surprised by the Tigers in the AL..... *THUMBSUP*
They are in it, but time is no longer on their side. This race is too close for comfort and getting me nervous. Tigers picked a bad time to start losing series.
u dog - i think Jones was out of line. Larussa is no Saint and probably shouldn't have a role with MLB but Jones makes a blanketed statement without no facts or stats to back it up...
How was Jones out of line? Somebody asked him a question and he answered it. If you want to question his perception of the game as "a white man's game," fine, but it's certainly not a black man's game, and I'd say his perception is pretty validly formed by being one of the few black stars in the game. I've seen a lot of comments that Kaepernick should just STFU and collect his fat paycheck, so why is Jones out of line for basically saying that's exactly what he and other black baseball players are doing? And he's 100% spot on with this part: ?Look, I know a lot of people who don?t even know the words to the national anthem. You know how many times I see people stand up for the national anthem and not pay attention. They stand because they?re told to stand. ?That?s the problem. Just don?t do something because you?re told to do something. Do it because you understand the meaning behind it and the sacrifice behind it.??
what does police brutality and police awareness have anything to do with the National Anthem? Kap says 1 thing and then does another. His complaint is against the Police cover-ups of white cops against black men and woman. no qualms with that. BUT if KAP doesn't think there is black police brutality on white people too then he's dumber than his dumb afro ! And what does any of this have to do with the National Anthem? Be he says the flag doesn't stand for this or that or why pledge an allegiance to something that isn't true? the anthem has nothing to do with police brutality or awareness of the cover-ups behind them. So now Jones, without any stats, just says "baseball is a white man's game." Well the NBA is a black man's game Adam and the NHL is a foreign player's game then. What's your point? Do you feel bigoted against bc your black? Are you not treated fairly by a white owner bc your black? What is it?
8 crazy freakin years for a stupid division title. Addison Russell didn't even have a driver's license the last time the Cubs won the division. Now let's get the rest of season over with and hopefully crush it in the post season.
I will admit I haven't read Adam Jones piece. However, about 10 years ago on Jackie Robinson day they were acknowledging all the black players of non-Latino background. In all of major league baseball there were about 10! Think about that. That statistic made an impression on me. It seems like there are a few more right now, but I don't know own the exact stat. In reverse, it feels like the NBA has actually gotten more white. Maybe because I cheer for the Bulls and they have had a team in recent years that was disproportionately white (compared to the rest of the league). As for Kap, he did something to bring attention to something he believes in and then he donated money to causes to support it. If he hadn't sat during the National Anthem, would you have heard him if he said something? Would you have cared? By sitting he draws attention to something he cares about. I think his focus is too narrow personally and I think wearing the socks and other stuff he does takes away from his cause. I think his background makes it an odd choice for it to be his cause. But he has one. He's standing up for being more than a shitty QB. I don't find kneeling disrespectful. I think it is a good compromise. JMO. (As a white girl in corn country)
i think he has the facts about police brutality wrong and kneeling doesn't do anything but bring attention to himself. it does shit for awareness of police brutality and the unfair treatment of anyone. it only brings attention to you(him). if he wanted to make a difference, he would have studies done on the stats of real police brutality on both sides of the coin - black cops against white people and white cops against black people. show me some stats about unfairness to get my attention. don't throw out a blanketed statement with no proof of anything and cry racism to me.
he's out of line bc he has no shown 1 stat to prove his case right. he hasn't done 1 case study to prove white cops are against black men and police brutality among white cops against blacks is very high. he hasn't done shit bs make a blanketed statement and kneel. now last night soccer player Megan Rapinoe knelt again during the national anthem. this was not for her club team, this was for the US National Team. If you wanna fine Hope Solo for her actions, why isn't Rapinoe being suspended? This is the US National Team and you disrespect your own anthem? It's unreal how bad this is getting. She wants to fight for her own rights of being mistreated as she is gay and she feels people are treating CK unfairly. This is how you support those causes? Brilliant.
