OK fine igloo but the issue is professional ball vs minor league ball. you're talking about their status of if they are professionals or not. im talking about the type of play they're playing in - a minor league system vs a professional system. the phils took mickey moniak #1 this year. he is now a professional athlete playing minor league ball. his stats are not counted as professional major league stats as he's not in the MLB right now. So to count Rose's minor league stats is not fair for his hit total. i don't count the minors towards any major league stat. the japan league was a professional league that he played in and not some minor league. the minor leagues to me are the minor leagues. Rookie, Cape Cod, A, AA, AAA ball. Ichiro played in the highest league his country had. this is really a silly point that mut had to bring back up. Rose is still the hit king. Cobb is #2.
When you say "a professional system" you know that the minors and majors are in the same system right? Every organization has numerous teams, we just only pay attention to the top one. AAA is in the same system as the Majors though, the same organization owns their contracts. Rose is the Major League hit leader because he has the most hits in Major League history (note "Major League" literally comes from the name of the league). Japanese professional baseball is professional baseball, which is where the argument comes from that it should be included. All I said is if you include all professional baseball that would also include the over 400 hits Rose got in the Minors, which is also professional baseball.
Not disagreeing with ya Fish. I think MLB stats should be the only ones counted for the HOF. Rose #1, Cobb #2, etc.....Just saying some other leagues are considered professional but definitely not MLB! *THUMBSUP*
the HOF made a special exemption for the Negro League players and that's it. No favors for the Japan league. Ichiro was getting in the Hall anyways, so it doesn't matter.

Miami Marlins trade for closer Fernando Rodney from San Diego Padres The surprising Marlins entered Thursday with a half-game lead in the hunt for the second Wild Card spot. Miami's front office evidently isn't satisfied with their standing, however, because they've traded for Padres closer Fernando Rodney. Both teams announced the deal on Thursday afternoon. The Padres acquired pitching prospect Chris Paddack as part of the deal. Rodney is in the midst of a better season than most realize. He's allowed just two runs (one earned) in his first 28 innings, and has yet to give up a home run. While Rodney has always battled his command and tendency to tip pitches, he continues to employ a mid-90s fastball and one of the best changeups in the game. So long as he's near the zone -- and that's not a guarantee -- he should remain an effective late-inning option. Consider that a good thing for the 2016 Marlins, and potentially the 2017 version as well, since Rodney's contract includes an affordable club option ($2 million plus incentives). (CBS)
Kershaw heads to DL with back issue MILWAUKEE -- Clayton Kershaw will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with lower back pain, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts couldn't say he was optimistic that his ace will return in the minimum time. Kershaw received an epidural injection for pain relief, but the club did not release an injury diagnosis or explain whether the pain was caused by a disk issue or possible herniation. All back injuries are different, but teammate Scott Van Slyke missed nearly two months with a lower back injury and said he needed one month after receiving an epidural injection before he felt 100 percent. Roberts was asked the chances that Kershaw, with a four-day All-Star break included, would return after 15 days. The longer he is unable to throw, the longer it will take to rebuild arm strength needed to pitch deep into games.
i love that bonilla post. i think i posted the same thing last July. To be 53 and to get that money must be awesome! $$$$ Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th.
Bonilla isn't the only player to have that in his contract. I think Griffey Jr. has it also. And a few aother players......
but bonilla retired a helluva lot longer than griffey did. haha. here is CBS' All-Star Lineups as a prediction ONLY. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/o...national-league-all-star-rosters-predictions/
