I haven't been around at all lately, but since I'm sure someone has mentioned it, I'll give my 2 cents on the Cards taking Delvin Perez. He's one of the most talented players in the draft. Poor kids from shitty parts of countries in poverty don't get the best guidance (I know PR technically isn't a country). The Cards will develop him and the PED thing won't even be a blip on the radar.

 

if he's so poor - how he is getting peds? being poor is not an excuse to cheat. Harold Reynolds went off about the drafting during the draft and said it was disgraceful.

PEDs on your record don't go away! To cheat at 17 yrs of age is really bad. Sorry, but the black cloud isn't leaving him anytime soon Mut.

 

if Tyler Glasnow is so good -why is he still in AAA whereas James Tallion is getting called back up soon?

 

twice in 1 morning i am going to go against what i posted earlier and do a full 360 about it.

i am on record on saying i don't condone beaning of hitters etc. i don't care what happened, you don't bean a hitter with a 95 mph fastball - i.e. - Manny Machado--Ventura.

However - go to the 15:34 mark of this video. This happened in the NCAA Super Regional of Miami-BC this weekend. Look at the Miami hitter and when he gets around 3b towards home. Look what he does to the BC Catcher! That's 1 issue to bean the hitter besides him raising his arms in a blowout. then the team pours onto the field for a very long celebration!

keep watching - the asshole Miami player who has to be held back by his teammates when BC doesn't like the excessive celebration (he's the tall skinny kid with shaven black hair-either #3, 13, 23 or 33) needs to be beaned too! You were not on the field for the HR. You then are on the field to excessively celebrate. When BC has had enough you go and wanna start something and need to be held back by 5 guys! FAH-Q punk! BC is eliminated unfortunately but if that guy and the hitter are back next year - they get beaned in game 1. At first i thought this was the 9th inning. It was the 7th! Get back in the dugout you assholes. The game is a blowout.

I look for the NCAA to reprimand Miami here on 2 counts, but they won't! The hitter should be for taunting the catcher like he did and the douchebag who wanted to start a fight with the BC first basemen!

Sorry gents - but these 2 deserve it and the NCAA should put Miami on notice that this taunting and nonsense won't be tolerated. This isn't the football team and this isn't 1987 with Jimmy Johnson!

 

I know you were addressing, mutigers, but i just wanted to comment. When a kid at 17 lives in the environment described here, doesnt he deserve a second chance or at least a shot at getting clean and making something for his family.

What the Cards did is totally within the established protocol of what you may do. So, where is the problem?

If he blows his chance while being affiliated with an MLB team... throw him to the dogs and be done with him.

To bean, or not to bean? This is the question.

I personally think its very situational and has to be a part of the game to come inside and keep the batters honest.

Its a very difficult thing for many pitchers to bean a batter. The decision is usually not just of the pitcher, but management calling for it. Intention to hurt someone is not cool in any situation on any side of the ball.

 

Will-Reynolds issue was he cheated and was still drafted very high. that is basically telling kids - go cheat and you will still get drafted high. to me he already has 1 strike. 1 more and he's out like a fat girl in dodgeball. i don't care where he's from or how poor he is or how young and dumb he is. MLB test for PEDs. you don't need to be a Rhodes Scholar to know to NOT DO THEM! He gets 1 more chance!

being poor, young etc is no excuse. sorry. everyone knows they test for PEDs. if he missed the memo on it - he's a dope! No pun intended.

 

HOF Legend Walter Johnson admitted he was deathly afraid of throwing inside and killing someone bc he threw that fast. Fine, don't throw a fastball. Throw a 88+ curve and his the UM players in the ribs or ass! Again that video and what the hitter did to the catcher was brutal. Then the other idiot gets all mad etc. Screw them. BC should've waited in the parking lot for them and settled it ! I hate the hotdogging crap! The NCAA should reprimand UM as i stated bf and you're on lock-down for the rest of the Super Regionals and Finals in Omaha if you make it that far. No place in the game for those shenanigans.

 

Baseball is tough at picking. You never really know until most are in the minors for a good while. It's kind of like the NHL. The top 8 are good but after that, it's all a risk. And pitchers need to throw inside to keep batters off the plate, period!

 

I have no idea Fish. Pirates pitching is so bad they should call up both and get rid of a couple. Taillon looked great in his debut and they send him back down? They need to get Glasnow up also......The pitching is really bad except Cole and now he's out. The bullpen isn't as good as the last few years either.......

 

igloo-yahoo.com has nothing on glasnow. he's ranked 1385 in all baseball players right now, so unless Cole is hurt, he's not moving anywhere as Talleon is getting all the publicity. i only asked as i needed to cut someone for a roster move and i've been carrying Glasnow all damn season, so it's bye-bye time! It's a non-keeper league so i don't care about july-oct. he won't be Sandy Koufax in 4 mths and that's if he comes in July.

 

Like kids weren't already being told that by the myriad players continuing to make millions of dollars after getting caught. The guy Perez might replace one day not the least among them. Reynolds was an active player during the height of the steroid [del]area[/del] era...where was his righteous indignation then? He should stick to harassing interns.

 

When you're really good at baseball you get scholarships to baseball academies which you have to pay back if you get drafted. They give you trainers, the trainer gives you supplements, you're 17 and have no idea what MLB rules even are (most MLB players don't know what is/isn't banned, they just trust trainers) so you trust your appointed trainer and get busted. That's how a 17 year old kid who lives in the top floor of an abandoned cock-fighting building gets PEDs. And lets not forget, we don't know what he got busted for. Adderall is a PED per MLB rule, I really doubt he got caught on HGH, probably something small 99% of player don't even know what is.

If Harold Reynolds is your moral compas you need to think for yourself, that guys loves Jhonny Peralta, who btw there is no black cloud around anymore.

Lastly, since Perez isn't subject to MLB rules until he's on a 40-man roster, or MiLB rules until he's in a professional system, this isn't on his record. MLB just forces you to take a piss test to be eligible for the draft, there is no punishment for anything that comes from it.

Does anyone know what "13a-ethyl-17a-hydroxygon-4-en-3-one" is? Apparently its illegal...

 

Not to rant too much, but this "black cloud" thing is laughable. Just looking at active players how many of these guys do people even associate with PEDs anymore?

reynolds isn't my moral compass. i was just repeating what he said at the draft. i was shocked the kid was eligible to be drafted to be honest after getting caught.

as for peralta...to me the cloud never lifts. he will always be that guy who cheat. like giambi, arod, bonds, mcgwire, byrd, meija, palmeiro, clemens, braun etc. the cloud never goes away. it could be 2030 and someone will always say "THAT GUY CHEATED!" i think 2-3 of the phils lesser minor leaguers have already been caught and have been suspended.

I have nothing to do with MLB, peds or the draft so im sure MLB is handling this accordingly.

 

ok-in 20 yrs - what will you remember about grandel over braun? some names stick out as cheaters and some don't. i will always remember bonds, clemens, mcgwire, braun, palmeiro and others as cheaters no matter what. maybe it's due to their fame or maybe when i think of the word "cheaters" their names come to mind.

 

How can you not throw in Sosa? He was also caught with an illegal bat after it broke......
