Bryce Harper facing fine, suspension after dropping F-bomb on umpire Monday night, the Nationals beat the Tigers 5-4 thanks to Clint Robinson's walk-off home run. Washington is now 20-12 on the season. That is the fourth best record in baseball. Bryce Harper was ejected from the game in the ninth inning for arguing balls and strikes not long before Robinson's home run. Harper was actually in the dugout when he was tossed. He then came out onto the field and appeared to yell "f--- you" to the umpire. Harper was unapologetic after the game, as he tends to be. He doubled down on the F-bomb while talking to reporters... I can't imagine many umpires are fond of Harper to start with, but that's certainly not going to help things. Umpires hear a lot of nasty stuff. That was a wee bit over the top. According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Harper is facing a fine and/or suspension, but not necessarily because of the F-bomb. Ejected players are not allowed to come back out onto the field, which Harper did to celebrate the walk-off homer. MLB will review everything before handing down any discipline. They'll review the ejection and Harper's actions after the ejection, including the F-bomb. Red Sox manager John Farrell was fined but not suspended for returning to the field after being ejected over the weekend, and that's a pretty common penalty. Harper didn't come back on the field to argue. He was there to celebrate the walk-off. Will the F-bomb push this from a fine to a suspension? We're going to find out soon enough.
harper is an ass. he was shocked for being tossed and then once they won comes out and drops f bombs. screw him. you want to make baseball fun again - leave asses like you out of it. punk ass!
Cubs tie 1907 team for franchise's best start CHICAGO -- Kris Bryant hit a two-run double, Addison Russell drove in three runs and Ben Zobrist had four hits, including a pair of RBI singles, to lift the Cubs to an 8-7 victory over the Padres on Tuesday. The Cubs improved to 25-6, matching the 1907 team for the best start in franchise history. "You can't stay this hot all year long," Zobrist said. "It's such a long season, and we know we're going to have down points. It's the ability to pick each other up, and this team, so far, you've got contributions from everybody, all around the clubhouse, up and down the lineup, every pitcher, every reliever, everybody's contributing in some way. I think the confidence as a team is just super high because of that."
He tried Murphy behind Harper and that wasn't working out either. Murphy wasn't hitting or driving in runs either! Baker switched to Zimmerman.......
Harper got a 1 game suspension and a fine. He's going to appeal, so he's in the lineup for tonights Nats and Tigers game.
Max Scherzer struck out 20 Tigers last night... no one listened to me when I said trading him was a huge mistake. (smh)
How do you feel about Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth and Ted Williams? They were all known to have hot heads and tempers, but man o man could they play some ball.
harper isn't even in the same league as those 3. not even in the same conversation. and besides cobb would take him to an alley and just stab him and pistol whip his punk ass!
My point wasnt from a statistical position in comparison to the three players I mentioned, but Harpers stats aint chopped liver either. The point im making is... do you put up with the occasional outburst and cockiness because he can play the game and play it well? I say yes. If you and others want to view him as a 'punk', so be it. Im just saying that the punk can play the game , so who cares that he yell's FU to an Umpire? If you and others get annoyed at Harper and consider him a punk... where do these other far worse offenders in todays games stand?
Will do you have kids? If Harper is going to be the face of the game, is telling an Umpire FU in front of the fans a smart thing to do ? is this acceptable behavior from ANY PRO ATHLETE? Absolutely not! I don't care if Harper is the next God of baseball, you don't show up the Umps like that. What is Steph Curry did that or Patrick Kane or Andrew Luck? Fans would NOT TOLERATE IT. Neither should the paying fans. I don't consider wiki a reliable source of info on whatever happened 80-100 yrs ago with Ruth, Cobb and years later for Williams. the stories are all out there, but how many are really true? I don't believe half the crap I read about the old times of baseball, fixes, gambling, fights, drunkenness etc. So comparing Harper to these guys when Harper unfortunately has today's over extended media to dissect his every move is unfair to him and to compare him to the past greats is not fair as they were not under the same microscope as Harper is now.
I don't like to compare era's, but the players are under such scrutiny everyday with all the technology. And I never saw Ruth, Williams or Cobb play. I can only put Cobb in the same category as Harper because from what I've read, nobody liked Cobb either. Williams more or less didn't want to be bothered and I never heard anything bad about Ruth.
You and Iggy put the 'Tag', 'punk' on Harper for cussing an umpire. By that set of circumstances alone, is every player and manager that ever cussed an ump a punk? I say no, what say you?
Will = Harper is a punk on many levels. Come on man. This isn't his first incident into his nonsense. 2 Months ago and "make baseball fun again" drew the ire of Goose Gossage and Mike Schmidt. Fine, i won't call him a punk. I'll let Harper just bury himself by his own actions. It won't take long.
i read once Ruth punched out an Umpire... haha. Again, who the hell knows if this is true or not. The story is out there...

I don't see how anyone can disagree with Harper being the best player right now. Trout is really good but Harper has the "it" factor. If you see Trout come up in the 9th you're not too sure what he is going to do. When Harper comes up in that same situation you know he is going to do something special.
