Advanced stats... Lamar Jackson is average-to-below average nearly across the board, despite playing the third-softest pass defense schedule in the NFL so far this season.
Here: This whole section paints a picture of me entering the discussion because you said he could improve his game. That's a lie. I entered the topic due to a very specific statement that I disagreed with. I SPECIFICALLY quoted that statement. I SPECIFICALLY replied to that statement. Hence why I said in my last post that comprehension loses another battle. It's very possible to agree he needs to continue to improve as a passer while disagreeing that he's "flat-out not a good passer at the moment".
Only because comprehension seems really difficult for you. Sigh. Yards and yards per game are greatly affected by another stat you intentionally left out. Attempts. Lamar is 18th there. There's also another very important metric to rate a QB by when solely judging his passing performance that you intentionally left as well. Yards per attempt, to which Lamar ranks 11th. Most people I've come across that seem reasonably minded tend to rank yards per attempt as one of the top 3 important things to rate a QB on, especially over yards/yards per game, since those will be lower if a QB is on a run based team. Lamar ranks 11th there, so I can see why you left it out.
He may be on his way. As of now, he does NOT have the lowest completion percentage, TD to INT ratio, or passer rating in the division. So there's that
You are not going to get a good faith discussion out of SAS. Period. They are not capable of it. Other fans here are, thankfully.
Yards-per-attempt are largely a product of offensive philosophy. Kirk Cousins leads the NFL right now with 9.3. Ryan Fitzpatrick led it last season with 9.6. Drew Brees and Alex Smith led with 8.0 in 2017. Lamar is +0.3 YPA above league average. That's a mere 4.1%. And your routine, friendly reminder that he's 6.8 YPA (-0.6 below league average, 8.1%) when you exclude his game against the JV Dolphins where he averaged an absurd 14.8 YPA and then regressed mightily to the mean -- still against very poor pass defenses. Deeper analysis into QB throw aggressiveness continues to paint an uglier picture for him. He's 20th in aggressiveness, per Next Gen Stats, where they calculate the percentage based on throwing into tight windows. Lamar, as with Kirk Cousins and many of the other league leaders in YPA, are unaggressive throwers -- they take what the defense gives them or their receivers have made their jobs easier. BTW... if you're trying to get me to talk myself into trashing Lamar, congratulations... it's working.
Since you're being so agreeable today . . . Would you also agree that the Ravens have racked up some pretty good stats (and wins) against some pretty horrible teams?
If Jarvis hadn't let himself say that stupid shit I would pick you guys to upset the Patriots. I was looking at the start them sit them on nfl.com and OJB, Mayfield and your defense are the sits of the week. Chubb is a start of the week. I could smell a serious upset brewing except for the stupidest thing of giving Belichick a motivational tool.
Keep in mind, Gid, that the FFB geeks base their "Start 'em, Sit 'em" segments on projected FFB points . . . Not actual contributions to a team winning or losing. Even with that said, regardless of any fuel supplied by Landry or others, the smart pick is still New England.
In other news, Hue Jackson actually had your browns at 2-3-1 last season. Which according to my calculations is a better record than fat Freddie
I totally understand that Lyman . I just can't believe so many of you guys players are the sit of the week. I really think you guys could have surprised them. Once you give fuel to Belichick he won't let his team lose. Darth Hoodie will choke the life out of your team.
I think the Patriots will win. But I don't think it will be a blowout. Darth Hoodie's team has done well this year playing even more stiffs than the Ravens have played.
And, OBTW - The reason that 2-3-1 is better than our current 2-4-0 is the tie with . . . the mighty Steelers. Might I suggest you try thinking before bashing?
