A couple more... Rashard Higgins has been healthy and cleared by team doctors since Week 4. He missed two games, not from injury, but from being a healthy scratch. Speaking of "healthy scratch"... Genard Avery has been on the field for two snaps in 2019, despite an impressive rookie season. In finally addressing the issue, defensive coordinator Steve Wilks said the reporter asking the question should get the league to let them dress 53 on Sundays. Spoiler ahead, coach... if he can "make a major impact on the game", you play him. Chris Smith and Chad Thomas both dressed for Seattle - saw 12 snaps each - and recorded zero combined stats for the game. They play the same position as Avery.
Rashard Higgins vs. Antonio Callaway, 2018: A Case Study Callaway: 68 targets, 39 catches (57.4%), 503 yards (12.9 YPC), 4 TDs, 24 first downs (61.5%) Higgins: 43 targets, 33 catches (76.7%), 487 yards (14.8 YPC), 4 TDs, 23 first downs (69.7%) *numbers w/Baker
Maybe my problem is I'm looking at it a different way. I'm willing to bet the NFL MVP will be one of four people: Patrick Mahomes Russell Wilson Aaron Rodgers Tom Brady Now if you wanted to extend to more people you could probably throw in guys like Lamar, DeShaun Watson, Kirk Cousins, Christian McCaffery. But those chances are pretty slim. Does that make him a candidate? I guess it depends on how you look at it.
If I'm looking at established, perennial top shelf Pros, then yeah, but A Rogers and T Brady haven't had great starts to the season, and Wilson just laid an egg too, so that leaves Mahomes, and he too was better last year.. As the season stands, I'd still put Lamar in the top 5 candidats. In two weeks, maybe not.
Brady is in there only because it's Brady and they are undefeated. And that's all he needs. He'll be in the conversation as he is every year. Rodgers has played really well and his team is 6-1. Not sure what you're looking for there. Russell is completing almost 70% of his passes. He has 15 TDs and 1 INT. He's 2nd in QB rating (114.1) to Cousins (114.3)[/QUOTE]
Tier 1 (worthy, likely to happen): Russell Wilson Patrick Mahomes Tom Brady's defense Tier 2 (worthy, could happen): Aaron Rodgers Christian McCaffrey Deshaun Watson Tier 3 (worthy, but wouldn't happen): Nick Chubb Dalvin Cook Michael Thomas
Eleven of the last 12 have been QBs, so I think it's safe to say it'll be a QB. Even in SAS's post there are 5 guys, and I'd put Lamar in there with them today. Season wise, I'd expect him to drop out of contention, but that's not the question.
Top 5 MVP 1. Russell Wilson 2. Christian McCafferey 3. Aaron Rodgers (with a bullet) 4. Deshaun Watson 5. Michael Thomas and Dalvin Cook (tie) * if you could vote for an entire D, as SAS suggested, then Patriots D would be #2...
Amen. 2016: Hue Jackson 2013: *see above* 2010: Peyton Hillis, Colt McCoy, and Mohamed Massaquoi molly wop Tom Brady's Patriot's 34-14 This Sunday: Browns by 6.
Still a long way to go to start anointing an MVP. Russell Wilson looked pretty pedestrian against a mediocre defense in his last outing. (Cue R_R_3 to run to the Ravens' defence) Rodgers and Brady will be in the mix because MVP voters are just like the BCS voters who consider what teams did in prior years. Gidiot nominates Mason Rudolph (or whoever is playing QB for the Steelers).
Friendly Friday reminder that the whole Lamar Jackson kerfluffle started because I *congratulated* the Ravens on a win over Seattle, said I thought very highly of Lamar Jackson, and suggested he improve as a passer to become a complete weapon because that dimension of his game is currently lacking. Then RR3 got all in his feelings and posted a series of stats that backed up *checks notes* precisely what I was saying. Then went zero-dark-thirty. Until you had to come along and ruffle some more feathers, @Lyman.
@gidion72's AFC North QB Rankings 1. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh 2. An injured Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh 3. Mason Rudolph, Pittsburgh 4. Delvin Hodges, Pittsburgh 5. Pittsburgh's emergency QB, Pittsburgh 6. Andy Dalton, Cincinnati 7. Jaylen Samuels, Pittsburgh 8. Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Honorable mention: Lamar Jackson, RB Baltimore
Let's not rewrite the truth. The following isn't speaking highly of a player and this is what led to my first response to you: Crazy thing is, I replied saying his rookie season was bad and that he'd been a better thrower his second year, while listing other passers people praise who Lamar was statistically in line with. Apparently that was too much praise for you and you then decided to go fully into the "he's below average" talk. If you're going to reference recent discussions, let's at least be accurate about it
Oh, is this the Browns fan circle jerk thread? 1. Lyman calls Ravens defense mediocre and says I'll come to defend Ravens that. 2. SAS flat out lies about my previous interaction on this thread in regards to Lamar Jackson. 3. I respond to SAS' lie, which has nothing to do with the Ravens defense. 4. Lyman pats self on back. 5. SAS pats Lyman on back. 6. Reading comprehension loses another battle
Pot, meet kettle. So... apology accepted, I guess? Lamar Jackson's numbers and NFL rank... Completion percentage: 63.3 (19th) Yards: 1,650 (16th) Touchdowns: 11 (12th) Interceptions: 5 (20th) Yards-per-Game: 235.7 (17th) QB rating: 94.1 (16th) And in case you were wondering... 19/32 = below average 16/32 = average 12/32 = above average 20/32 = below average 17/32 = below average 16/32 = average
