From January 5th on a Browns free agency thread... The former Dorsey pick that nobody wants to talk about...(but it could happen) Though I do believe that you can never have enough talented running backs, I wanna be clear that I'm not advocating for this, so please keep that in mind. The fact is John Dorsey does have a history of taking chances on guys that have made big mistakes off the field. Given that he was just drafted by Dorsey just 2 years ago, if he can prove true contrition to his former GM, it wouldn't completely shock me if Kareem Hunt wound up on Cleveland's radar at some point in the future....No doubt it'll be a long road back for him, and he'll have plenty of hurdles to jump. His action were inexcusable. My guess is he'll be suspended for at least the first half of 2019 season, if not all...A well deserved punishment. Without question, Kareem has issues that must be addressed....Beyond that however, he's clearly a talented football player that's in his prime. He is an Ohio guy. He won't be overly expensive. He has direct ties and relationship with our GM. And he is a free agent that is going to get a second chance somewhere...just pointing out some facts. Don't kill me for bringing it up. I know many of you would hate it.... Like it or not, our GM rolls the dice occassionally on players with considerable red flags....Hunt is just a name to remember. He is out there. There's a chance that Nick Chubb played well enough that Kareem isn't even considered, but personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Dorsey is already sniffing around on this one...
Weird. Why take the hit when you already have a stud in the backfield? At least I won't have to listen to Irish trash a Steeler the next time one of them is jaywalking.
Because America believes in 2nd chances.... There will be some backlash but people will get over it.... Long road back for Kareem, but it can be done.
Jaywalking....assaulting women....same thing, right? I guess it is an apples to apples comparison...but I don't think its the right place for hyperbole.
You're probably right but the same outrage and criticisms the Browns fanbase unleashed on the Steelers over the years should be unleashed on Dorsey and Haslam.
Not surprising news........... ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Ravens have "agreed in principle" to trade Joe Flacco to the Broncos. NFL Network's Ian Raoport reports the Ravens will receive a mid-round pick. The deal cannot be announced until the new league year opens March 13, but it sounds like Mile High will be Flacco's new home for the immediate future. GM John Elway has been feeling the heat in recent years to find a quarterback, whiffing on Paxton Lynch as a first-rounder and then watching Case Keenum flop as a free-agent pickup last year. Flacco just turned 34 in January and is by no means an upper-echelon starter, but he's good enough in the middle of the pack at the position where a team can win with him. (The same can likely be said for Keenum.) This means Keenum will almost surely be released after one season with the Broncos and likely takes Denver out of the market for a first-round quarterback in April's draft. Joe Flacco was traded to Denver. Their intent is now to shop Case Keenum. They still may (probably will) draft a rookie quarterback. Imagine being a fan of that franchise. You won a Super Bowl by going all-in on Peyton Manning and your GM has wasted everything since that year. If it weren't the Raiders and how out of touch with the modern NFL Jon Gruden really is, this would be the worst team in the AFC West.
I don't think that anyone is championing the Haslams or Dorsey on this move. I would think that Dee must know something about the case to sign off on this. That being said, the team hasn't repeatedly had this type of issue with players on the team...let alone multiple assault claims against their QB. In terms of the AFC North, I would venture to guess the Browns rank at the bottom in players with off the field incident's, and players who are dirty that just take cheap shots. So your jab is moot.
Yeah I don't know. It's one thing to invest in one of your own only to have him cross the line. It's entirely another thing to bring in a guy 3 months removed from beating up a woman because his indiscretion makes him a bargain. It's pretty slimy.
The AFC North is ripe for the taking by the Browns https://brownswire.usatoday.com/2019/02/16/afc-north-cleveland-browns-humor/
When you're a JAG and have gotten away with people thinking you're good because you play with a HOF QB in an extremely wide receiver friendly system, but you are a turd so they trade you to a team with the worst QB in the NFL...
Same old Browns... We have been listening to that tired mantra for years and years. It resonated throughout the league and we had to listen and deal with the fact we had no argument. A new era has begun in the AFC North, it started with the hiring of Sashi Brown and is being taken into the next decade of Browns football by Baker Mayfield and John Dorsey. Recently the same old Browns (Sashi) traded away their 4th round compensatory draft pick...for the Texans throw away QB, a 2nd round pick(#35 overall) and a 6th round pick(#188 overall)...it cost them $15.2M Netted them Nick Chubb and Simeon Thomas. Thomas means little in this post, but Chubb seems to be an integral part of the present and future of an emerging franchise. Meanwhile, the untouchable Pittsburgh Steelers spent $21M last night... they received the #66(3rd) and #141(5th) and lost one of the most prolific WRs in recent years in the process. Why? Because the inner makings of the Steelers organization is being ripped apart by bad leadership from the coaches to their starting QB..they've lost control of the locker room. It's amazing two end of the spectrum franchises have come full circle in the matter of a couple of seasons. I'm not gloating...an injury here or there and the Browns could be nose diving back into oblivion. It's just fascinating to me after being ridiculed for so long.
Meh... or AB is just an asshole and they put up with it - like every other team does when he's the best player in the league at his position. Yeah a lot of Steelers fans (not me) have taken shots at the "same old browns". But no less times than you guys have predicted the upcoming demise of the Pittsburgh Steelers. They are still the most talented team in the AFC North and their front office and coaching staff have a proven track record. So slow your roll and let's see what happens. The Steelers don't have to be bad for the Browns to be good.
