His agent probably shit a brick. I've heard he could sneak into the 1st round. Money is triple than what he will get at 49.

This keeps coming back to me. You are right about this SAS, and for more than just the reason you mentioned. The Raiders actually have Carr's contract set up in a way that they can get out of it after this season without much damage...Plus, I was just thinking about how Alex Smith had the best year of his career, the year the Chiefs traded up in the first for Patrick Mahomes. This is pro sports. A pro has to put his ego in check and do his job....If Gruden and Mayock think that Haskins can ascend past Derek Carr, then they should take him....

Of course, I've been predicting forever that Haskins will be one of the top two players off the board, so that would put him out of Oakland's reach anyway....

If the Raiders brass believes in Carr, than they should take a pass rusher at #4....

I wonder who they truly had more interest in yesterday in Columbus, Haskins or Bosa?

I agree 100% with this.. Haskins is going to go in the top 2. If you want him, you will need to go up and get him.

He'll have to fall to me, and even if he does, I haven't decided what way I want to go with this...I think Carr is a good QB. I'm just not convinced he's a $25.5M a year QB...It is what it is, and maybe that's not a crazy number when you look at what Cousins is making. If surrounded by enough talent, I think Derek Carr can win. Whether or not he can win it all, who knows? I may have to roll with him in the GMO though, because I'm not likely to trade up from #4, especially if Bosa or Q. Williams were sitting there. I'm fine with that though...I don't currently have Carr in my top 12 NFL QB's, but he's not far behind that, and he's always been on a fairly dysfunctional team. He could ascend this year with some of the weapons they've put around him in Oakland, but they did let his security blanket, A.K.A. Jared Cook, get away, and that might be telling...We'll find out what Mayock is up to soon enough. They have been pretty aggressive.

Dwayne Haskins looked great at his pro day though.... I gotta say that.

Official Browns twitter getting awfully sentimental with these "bring them home" tweets.

Can Justin Layne and Dre'Mont find ways to tank their pro days and be available #49 and #80, respectively?

  8. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

TDN's predictive board (here) has Layne rated #44, Jones rated #81, and Ben Banogu (EDGE, TCU) rated #116. Browns picking #49, #80, and #119. If we could get the Football Gods' blessing and land those three with those picks, I would consider 2019 as successful as 2018 (minus Baker because, you know...).

I've done their mock simulator about a dozen times and can't get all three.

I just tried to get Sam's trio and couldn't land a single one. Layne went to TB, Jones went to GB, and Banogu was off the board too (didn't follow up on him).

    49 S Deionte Thompson, Alabama
    • 80 OT Michael Deiter, Wisconsin
    • 119 IDL Khalen Saunders Western Illinois
    • 144 Edge Sutton Smith Northern Illinois
    • 155 LB TeVon Coney, ND

Browns' heavy attendance at Ohio State Pro Day no accident with John Dorsey in charge
    http://www.espn.com/blog/cleveland/...ro-day-no-accident-with-john-dorsey-in-charge

^^^Now that's music to my ears, and one of the best reasons I can think of to be rid of Sashi Brown. He did some good things to set this franchise up for success, but I swear that guy went out of his way to ignore Ohio State players for some reason. His "eye" for talent just doesn't come close to John Dorsey's. I know it's all history, and it doesn't matter now, but it seriously used to bother me seeing all the football talent roll through Columbus, while we stayed focused on the PAC 10 players. Or Baylor...

Now that we no longer hold a 1st round pick, my hunch is that, assuming we stay at #49 , the Browns will go with a LB...Since both Devin's will be long gone and I don't anticipate a move back into rd 1, I wouldn't be surprised if we took Mack Wilson or possibly Vosean Joseph.

    Agreed. Makes sense.

I wouldn't rule out a Free Safety either. Anybody want to throw out a name?

Defensive back would be my next guess...For Safety, maybe a different Bama guy, Deionte Thompson would look good...I didn't study them a ton, but I also like Taylor Rapp from Washington . Both could be gone before #49 though.

Justin Layne, CB from Michigan State, wants pick #49 to be him. He tweeted at the Browns this weekend to come get him and bring him home....

I was trying to find where I read that Justin Layne thing, and then I realized it was right here on this thread. lol! Sorry SAS. I thought I had read that on the Browns site....Oh well. It's still early for me on this Sunday.

    GO BUCKS!

  16. TopDawg Legend

Well they threw me a curveball in the draft and made my choice of Haskins easy....I never thought about the possibility of the top 3 defensive prospects going with the first three picks, but that's what happened. Q. Williams, Bosa and Allen were all gone. I was surprised, but not disappointed at all.

I could easily see the top three picks go about like the did in the GMO. Unless someone trades up to take a QB, I'm not buying the hype that Arizona is taking Murray #1. I just don't see them giving up on Rosen this early especially after trading up to get him.

  19. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

Well, that depends on what you see once you do get him...

Reports are that his work ethic is lacking, something that was also reported pre-draft and most likely why he became the 4th QB chosen. If you get a kid into the building and no matter how many hints, both subtle and not so subtle, he is not progressing towards being professional about his craft..well, if you then get a do-over..sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and accept that do-over. The Cardinals have that opportunity if they like one of these QBs more highly than the one they took out of desperation last year. What you did to get him is of little value to what you have in him once you have him.

The thing is, you can never plan on being in the #1 pick again... This could be their opportunity to push their franchise into the future if they choose wisely.

I didn't like Rosen coming out. We had many debates on these boards last year...but the only guy I wanted, THANKFULLY, we drafted. The only other one I really thought had a chance of being a difference maker is Sam Darnold, but I still think he is a long shot. I didn't give Rosen much of a chance at all, as my 3rd rated QB..but I did think Jackson had some special skills that I didn't/don't think will last for a ten year top ten caliber career...then Josh Allen was the bottom of the barrel to me. Well, as it turns out, Rosen might have been worse off than my 4th and 5th QB...and Allen may end up being a little better than mediocre.

All these kids have a long way to go, but I wouldn't have put my eggs in the Rosen basket last year and I wouldn't hold it against the Cardinals to cut their losses and move on from him this year. I think both Haskins and Murray are better QBs than Rosen. If you can get one that will improve on what you have...take it, imho.

Going to be long gone by the time the Browns get on the clock, but another "Buyer Beware" on D.K. Metcalf:

    Comp: Darrius Heyward-Bey

    Oof.
