Really tired of hearing the Steelers "lost Bell". You can't lose something twice. They are effectively better with Conner + Samuels + 14.5M.

    This actually is true.

"Steelers declined to re-sign a very costly player at a non-premium position." - better ring to it?

So Browns Twitter is filled with all sorts of Hue Jackson jokes.

But who's gotta really feel crappy about the move is Joe Thomas.

    Worth noting about this pick-up...

He's not the first and he won't be the last HOF player to get stuck for an entire career, but it's hard not to feel for those guys who come to work with a lunch pail and hard hat mentality and suffer through it.

    My take?

Steelers got better production in the running game in 2018 without Bell, now will have additional 14.5M to help shape the roster.

That might be techincally true but do you think bell offers more or less to your O than what you had last year?

I do think in hindsight, as many of us said, that bell is an utter idiot for what he did, he basically just cost himself a fuck tonne of money.

As for the ALL AFC north team...it is not going to be pretty. It is almost like PIT and CLE just opted in to freaky friday on O.

If he's still alive in 2037 when the Browns win their first Super Bowl maybe they'll give him a ring!

Why are the browns being penned as the odds on favourites to sign Earl Thomas as well? Enough is enough already.

I don't think it's more or less. I think the production is about the same and that's not sour grapes. I was against franchising him both years and on more than one occasion I posted DeAngelo Williams' production as a 32 year old running back in the Steelers offense. There was zero dropoff when he replaced Bell. There was zero dropoff when Conner replaced Bell.

Bell has talent obviously but his production (IMO) has always been more about the offensive line and other skill positions creating an opportunity for him. And Bell for all his great qualities he's never been a scorer which I think is a byproduct of his hesitant style. There were times he just needed to hit the hole and failed to do so.

Losing Antonio Brown is a big blow. There is no way to sugarcoat that but they've won two Super Bowls without a HOF wide receiver and I expect really good things from James Washington - and Switzer in the slot. Losing Bell already happened and the Steelers are better for it (when you add the financial component).

Axe and I debated that move last year and I didn't like it for the Cowboys. Don't like it for the Browns either. Think he is just looking for one more payday and he hasn't played a full seasons since 2015.

Oh i actually agree with what you are saying, i was interested in seeing where you stood. I think i made a similar argument when i spoke with Tim last year about how good that O line is. Brown is the rarer of the two but i think if we are being honest and putting aside our biases etc, the steelers have historically been good at recruiting WR's so i fully expect the next Ward, Holmes, Brown to be drafted this year - then again he may already be on the roster.

I think the real interesting thing for PIT will be what happens with the guy that replaces Ben and i personally dont rate tomlin much either ( then again i dont like John so i dont think im being a hater)

As for the Earl Thomas thing. I see your point, but i think the talent he has is worth a shout although i just read that market estimates are valuing his worth at 14m a year- which....well...fuck that.

Then again, I love CJ mosely but he is getting an absurd contract (reported 85m, 5 years, 51m guaranteed) and while i think he is legit and a top 5 inside line backer in the league, he isnt better than Keuchly.

I get that I may be on an Island here, and I’m ok with it. I did sleep on it last night as I was truly upset with the move. I suppose I do have a bit of a personal issue with OBJ. I find it tough to feel good about a player who:

    · Goes out and parties it up with his teammate’s 4-days before the playoffs. Posts a 4 catch 28yard on 11 targets performance in that game. Talk about letting your team down. Just making the playoffs will not be enough in my book.

    · Throws his SB MVP QB under the bus publically. Just because he’s not getting the ball thrown to him deep all the time. Comes across as a selfish Diva to me. How will he be when Baker continues to spread the ball around and it’s Calloway/Higgins and not him catching the long bombs, and all he gets are the quick short routes due to coverage?

    · Has been struggling with injuries an underperforming on an inflated contract.

    · When Baker struggles (and he will he’s still learning the game) will OBJ be supportive, or turn his back and throw Baker under the bus?

    · When OBJ struggles due to coverage’s will he own it or will he throw his QB under the bus?

    · I guess I have to question whether or not the Browns got a “we” player or a “me” player. Is he truly hungry for that SB Championship?

Yes I do. I really like the Richardson signing. In fact he was one of the free agents I though the Browns should/could get at an affordable price. Putting another solid player next to Ogunjobi will defiantly help Garrett, Ogbah, and Vernon. IMHO The browns still need one more guy for rotational depth at the IDL position. I’m not sold on Davis at all. I think there will be solid players to be had in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I'm also high on this guy too;)

Of all the moves Dorsey has made the OBJ one is my least favorite. The rest are not as tough a pill to swallow for me. I get that when you start looking at the starting Roster as a whole it is really shaping up. The question of solid depth behind the starters remains. Still need starters at CB, S, LB, and depth at OL, DL.

I’ve see this before where we’ve looked at the roster and felt like the Browns had a great shot at winning games and going to the post season, only to post 4-12, 1-15, 5-11, 3-13 types of seasons.
I agree things are different now. People aren’t bashing the Browns consistently now. They are actually praising them.

When/If the Browns raise the Lombardi next January I’ll be the First one in line to eat as much Crow as you want to serve me. Until then I guess I’ll be the cranky ole fart.

Im really tired of people using "he partied 4 days before a playoff game" against OBJ. If you have a big presentation due for work or something to that affect, you could go blow off some steam to clear your head to be right in the days leading upto it. It was a day off, the only difference is he is a multi-millionaire and he relaxes by chartering a flight to Miami and getting a boat for the day. Nothing he did 4 days ago had an impact on his performance of the game, it's just bad optics.

Eli might be a SB MVP, but, he is hot garbage. Also, besides Barkley this year, the team really hasn't had anyone besides him...I'd be pissed too. A lot of the issues with him being a "diva" is from super competitive and the team playing like crap. It doesn't fully excuse everything, but, when the team is made up of trash, the head coach is trash, and the GM is giving away players, people tend to get pissed.
