Steve Wilks it is....Don't know a ton about him.

    Here's the short story;

Known mostly as a secondary coach in his NFL career. He's worked under Lovie Smith, Norv Turner and Ron Rivera, before getting his one year stint as HC in Arizona.

Before NFL, he was HC at Savannah State....North Carolina native. Went to Appalachian State.

I am on board with this one.

Carolina was a tough defense going into the playoffs when he was there.

Hopefully he can help our brownies get a few Lombardis in the trophy case

Anybody remember his dad, Mickey? Pretty good MLB catcher back in the day. I remember him playing for the O's and the Tigers.

Seems like this might have been a guy Baker wanted on board....

Looks like former Tampa Bay OC ,Todd Monken, will be the new Cleveland Offensive Coordinator...Browns getting good reviews for the hire.

With the hire of Priefer for STC, it wouldn't surprise me to see Kareem Hunt's tires get kicked (as discussed in an other thread).

It would be another case of a shitty human, but good on the field.

wanting to, and I'm paraphrasing, "put all gays on an island and nuke them" is not on par with assaulting a woman, but its in the same arena.

    I confess . . .

I know little about Steve Wilks and even less about Todd Monken. I'm just a tad surprised over the apparent lack of experience horsepower between these two to help a virgin head coach get off to a good start.

    All right, so who had...

    HC: Freddie Kitchens
    OC: Todd Monken
    DC: Steve Wilks
    ST: Mike Priefer

Wilks can probably share some horror stories from his lone season in Arizona as head coach. A decimated roster and a rookie quarterback and he got 16 games.

I have to say, I am a bit perturbed of this Priefer hire. I know everyone deserves a second chance, blah blah blah...

But he stated he wanted mass genocide of people... It sounds like this wasn't the only thing that had ever been said, just the last one that broke the silence of Kris Kluwe. Now, this coincided with Kluwe being cut and a subsequent law suit...I don't believe anyone else corroborated the accusations, but it was found he said at least SOMETHING homophobic, as he was suspended 3 games(shortened to 2). Kluwe also got a settlement, despite the findings that he was released for football reasons, which I do believe. He was a career 37.3 net punter, that would have been good for 33rd in the NFL last year...

I don't know, I don't believe he could possibly be enough of a GREAT SPECIAL TEAMS coach to warrant his hire. I don't like it... It looks bad as an organization and it could cause internal strife among players. There has to be someone else that can do this job...it isn't like a player who has extraordinary skills and there isn't anyone else like him in the league.

Bad decision on Haslems part to allow this, bad decision for Freddie in one of his first decisions as HC.

Watching the Freddie Kitchens introduction right now. In case anyone was wondering, Freddie will continue to call plays.

After watching his first press conference as HC of the Cleveland Browns, it's easy to see why people like Freddie Kitchens immediately. He just has a certain folksy charm that can't be faked. Very genuine....I think we got the right guy, and an added bonus is, we are sure to be entertained at future Kitchens pressers.

He talked about how even when he was a kid, he loved the Browns uniform. Said he was always watching the Browns on Sundays.... The simplicity of the helmet attracted him, and he mentioned that it's iconic, and the helmet "should never change."... He also said he's never seen a better support staff anywhere he's been, and that he believes this team is built to win now...He said he told John Dorsey to have a thorough coaching search, because he wanted to leave no doubts that he was the best man for the job....Dorsey obliged. Interviewed Freddie last. Then hired him.

If nothing else, Kitchens earned Brownie points early with his first meeting with the media....He makes ya want to tune in, more than any coach I can remember. Freddie is gonna be a star in this league.

So, I am fine with your choice of Dre'Mont Jones @SAS , however, we could see Quinnen Williams enter the conversation with these Alabama coaching hires? If nothing else, they should have insight into what the Alabama prospects bring to the table.

I know Quinnen Williams will MOST LIKELY go in the top 5 picks...However, he could easily slip out of the top ten with QBs pushing players down the way we all know they do. If he were to get pushed down, does that entice the Browns to move up to get him?

There does seem to be a good crop of interior DL this year with first round talent. We should be able to get a force the middle no matter what. QBs being over-valued will definitely help. There could easily be 3 top 15 qbs drafted (not worthy of their spot IMHO) which could free up an EDGE or WR that might be slightly less valuable overall but is a greater position of need and bumps the non-sexy position guys down.
