I expect we'll be hearing about a DC as well then... That is the one I am really anxious to hear about.
Agreed having coordinators with HC experience will help our new HC tremendously. Bonus is that we poached a coach from a division rival.
Guys... I know I say a lot of bad things about the Steelers, but Munchak is legit. Adding him is easily going to put us at the head of the AFC North next season. I do hope he's the only Steeler we poach, though. Chubb >>>>>>>> Bell Antonio Brown = JAG
Right on cue... Kitchens is going to have to re-tool the entire staff after losing all the coaches. Munchak and Pagano would be a very good start.
those would be sensational pick ups. I am a huge fan of Pagano plus he is very good on the back end which is what you want right now given the way the NFL is and would be ahuge boon for Ward. Munchak, not sure how he would fair as the premier play caller BUT is there a more consistent O line in the NFL over the last decade than PIT's? If he did nothing but make that line as good as PIT, its worth it. 2k
Looks like Freddie isn't wasting any time. Released today; Ken Zampese - QB coach Bob Wylie - O-line coach Greg Seaman - TE coach Bob Saunders - Offensive special asst. Brian Broswell - Offensive QC. Blake William's - LB coach Jerod Krure (?) - DB coach Eric Sanders - Deffensive QC Amos Jones - Special Teams Coordinator Sam Shade - Special Teams asst. Coach Josh Cribbs - Special Teams asst. Coach And, of course, Gregg Williams.
I like this Hire of Freddie.........and he has already cleaned out the KITCHEN....lol Congrats it is going to be so nice to see Cleveland Browns back in the Playoff's....it's going to happen. Long time Fans like.....Lyman,TopDawg,Buckeye Rok,IrishDawg........Yahoo Buckaroo.
I'm not seeing the talk of Munchak anywhere else but here really...I keep seeing Todd Monken to be interviewed this weekend.
I am excited and worried about Freddie. Excited because he clearly has the O in his pocket. Worried because he's a virgin HC. I agree that DC is the lynchpin decision, Duh. Beyond that I'm pleased to see him clearing the building, to allow assistants to pursue new positions, and his Co-ordinators to bring in their guys. The Munchak rumors are exciting IMO, because I believe the Line is the foundational piece to Offensive success. I also wouldn't expect anyone but Freddie to be the play caller, or the whole promotion to HC makes no sense. He's got experience, which I believe is critical for our virgin HC, and I expect will be OK with not getting play calling responsibilities. The DC remains the most critical hire, and IMO there are lots of quality guys out there. While I recognize the value of experience, I also believe we need a guy who knows how to work with young players, can relate to them and gain their respect and trust. There's a special chemistry with this team, and while it is sure to evolve, it would be nice if we can do that without upsetting the unity that's developing. We're still a hungry young team who haven't won anything yet, so fueling that hunger is a huge piece of what our coaching staff must build on, before success begins to eat away at the "all for one, and one for all" mentality.
On a seperate note: I feel for Gregg. The guy oversaw the resurection of the team, without a lot of drama. I sincerely hope he does well going forward. I don't know how much credit he's due, but I feel like he got little, while Freddie became a hero. All in all, his stewardship should garner him plenty of offers to continue as DC somewhere, and perhaps his time will come again. Thank you Gregg, and good luck
Couldn't agree more. I think ultimately, the price was Kitchens - the stats speak for themselves. While keeping them both for another season would have worked, it wouldn't have been tenable longer than that. We'd either need to release Williams (after an extension) and promote Kitchens, or risk losing Kitchens to another HC vacancy. Word is, he's being considered for the DC in New York, so he's already got stuff lining up at least.
Vance Joseph in line for interview... https://bleacherreport.com/articles...o-interview-for-dc-job-under-freddie-kitchens
Still waiting for the Browns to make the "announcement". WTF? None of the OC/DC guys get me very excited, but at least I see the Pagano thing. He's got HC experience, which helps, but I can't honestly say I remember his DC experience/performances. How does / will he relate to a room full of young guys, and vice versa? Please make the HC announcement, so everyone who's interviewing can have confidence that we aren't about to pull a boner, and announce that we've changed our minds (such a Browns thing to do).
From my phone... Clveland native Mike Priefer is the new special teams coach. Former special teams coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings. I'think that I am going to I like this hire Also heard Steve wilks will be interviewed for the DC position. Given Carolinas success when he was there. I can get on board with that as well. Now to get munchack on we'll be rolling
