OC under Freddie Kitchens.

 

I thought that too, but then I heard on the radio that we would need permission from Minnesota in order to interview him for OC, and we would be unlikely to receive that, even though his contract is up soon....Stay tuned.

 

The way I understand it, the Vikings can't block him from taking an interview for any job (even a lateral move) as his contract either expired at the end of the season or will expire shortly. Anyone know for sure?

 

Scratch Bruce Arians from the list. He accepted the Tampa Bay job.

 

They (the Vikings) blocked him from interviewing for Pat Shumur's staff, but they can't block him now, as @Lyman pointed out.

 

And Todd Bowles as Kitchens' defensive coordinator.

 

And, as a result, all my fine-tuned picture perfect logic went right down the shitter!

 

I am extremely interested to see, if Kitchens is the hire, who his DC will be!!

 

I have a sneaky suspicion that our new coaching staff will have a bunch of names on it that we haven't even thought of.

If Kitchens is hired as HC, don't be surprised if a familiar name actually comes to light...

There is a history between Kitchens and former Ravens DB coach/Bengals and Lions DC Teryl Austin.

I know he had a terrible partial year run with the Bengals last year, but he has a lot of DC experience, runs a 4-3 and knows our division inside and out after coaching for two of it's teams in the past.

I'm kind of giving him a pass on Cincy...we are after all talking about the franchise who held on to Marvin for about 8 years too long, then hired Hue after his debacle..and are now actually considering him for the HC position.

We did bring Stefanski in for a 2nd interview, and it wasn't to talk about him being OC, according to the Browns.....

Word is, the "analytics guys" (DePodesta) want Stefanski, and the "football guys" (Dorsey/Mayfield) want Kitchens...All are reporting to Jimmy Haslam.

Sounds like Haslem is in Columbus for an announcement ceremony there about the Crew...Probably returning immediately for an afternoon announcement for Freddie.
