    MUMPS

    Crosby 1
    Ovenchicken 0

  2. my point, frank, was that the ability to actually suit up and play counts. i'm well aware that crosby has more points per game.

  3. this season:

    crosby +7

    ovenchicken +12

Wait, are we discussing who is the better player?

  5. i realize that some folks cannot concede even a tiny point in this particular debate - i just didn't think any of them were here :p

so, for all u sol wannabes, i am not trying to claim ovechkin is a better player than His Holiness.

my all time favorite facet of this debate is that when Ovetchgoon wins an individual award, it's proof of his selfishness, but when crosby wins the same award, it's proof that he's the pest player in any sport EVAR.

So we are discussing who is the better player? *SCRATCH*

I just caught the tail end of this conversation so I wasn't sure if I should take the time to say that Ovechkin is at least 2 levels below Sid or if I should just look the other way and keep walking...

  9. keep walking, unless you're actually sol.

I haven't looked in the mirror yet today, but I am pretty sure I am still me.

And I am also quite certain that 1 Crosby trumps 2 Ovechkins.

  11. clear enough yet, i hope?

Ok, then what are we talking about?

First off, theres a couple differences between the 2.......Ovechicken is a winger and a goal scorer while Crosby is a center and set up player for more assists. I'm sure if you look at the stats, Ovechicken is going to have more shots on goal while Crosby is going to pile up more assists....... *YES*

people should STOP putting the Ovul8tor in the same sentence with the NHL's (current) Lord and Savior... just to avoid any confusion. same goes for #8 vs Spicoli too.

after a brief moment of thought... let's all take a little time out of our day today to thank OvenChicken for being able to show up every night and be a puck hog, shoot 12 times a game and struggle to play defense on his designated shifts. ALL HAIL THE OVUL8TOR!

  15. Here is a question to debate in this little ordeal.

If you needed a goal scored to win the Cup who would you rather take the shot, Ovechkin or Crosby. Let's make it interesting and give you different scenarios to look at.

    1. A one timer from the dot?

    2. A wrist shot from 15 feet out

    3. A breakaway from center ice.

For me no doubt about number 1. Ovie, that is his wheel house

Number 2: This one is close IMO I would lean to Ovie only because it would be more likely to surprise the goalie than a wrist shot from Sidney from that distance.

Number 3: Sid - I think he would have more moves than Ovie does

The one timer I would give to Ovi, the breakaway to crosby, but we're talking playoffs here, playoffs????(high mora voice). Since when does Ovi ever do anything in the playoffs? I don't think Ovi taking a shot to score a goal to win the cup is a realistic scenario, crosby can get you there, that's the difference.

  17. Skinny, here are the states between the two in the Playoffs

    O - 31 Goal, 30 Assist, in 58 Games

    S - 41 Goals, 73 Assist, in 95 Games -

So Sidney has scored 10 more goals than Alexander in 37 more games. Alexander not getting to the finals can be contributed a lot to not having a goalie that can stop another team in that type of situation Both average over 1 point a game. Alexander 1.05, Sidney 1.2 So to blame Alex for the caps lack of making it to the playoffs is a stretch. Give him Malkin, Fluery, and the Pens supporting cast and we could see what he would actually do in a playoff environment.

Hey Mikey, you got there I didn't think his playoff totals were that good, maybe it was one playoff run that stuck out or the ineptude of the team as a whole. Either way, I can't see the caps going to the finals, that could've happened a few years ago, unless they have key additions coming their way, and soon.

  19. Skinny, my point is all this was to point out that Ovie is a goal scorer. While Sidney is more or less a play maker. You need both on teams to succeed. But to lay everything at Ovie's feet for lack of playoff success is IMO wrong. I also chose to use the shooting skills because If I had to rely on one player to score that big goal. I'd go with the Goal Scorer over the playmaker. Both are important to a team but I like the scorer in those situation. Just like with the Hurricanes if I had one player to depend on to score a goal, I'd probably go with Jeff Skinner, only because he seems to find that hole in the goalie for the puck to go in.

OV is a better shooter, wrist shot or slap shot, crosby I would want in a one on one with the goalie. The lack of playoff success OV has to own, not all of it of course, but he's part of the problem. It's his job to motivate and show up to the important games, namely the one where they get eliminated. No question he'll put up points along the way, but how about the game where you need him to show up, who would you trust more, OV or Sid?
