The Preds have been consistently good on the ice over the past couple of seasons. It doesn't look like things have been going so well, however, in the owners' suite.

Co-owner David Freeman has filed a $250MM lawsuit against the team and chairman Tom Cigarran, who among other indiscretions, is being accused of dishonest business practices.

This probably belongs in the Butthurt thread, but I thought I'd post it here first.

Ray Bourque pleads guilty and apologizes...

LAWRENCE (AP) - Former Boston Bruins star Ray Bourque has apologized to his family, friends and fans for driving drunk last month.

Bourque apologized in a statement Wednesday after admitting in Lawrence District Court that prosecutors have enough evidence to convict him of driving under the influence when he rear-ended a minivan in Andover on June 24.

Bourque's "admission to sufficient facts" plea will resolve the case without a guilty finding if he successfully completes a year of probation. A judge also suspended Bourque's driver's license for 245 days.

Police said Bourque had a blood-alcohol level of 0.249, three times the state's legal limit to drive. In his statement, Bourque said he takes full responsibility for his actions.

Bourque played for the Bruins for 21 seasons, then helped the Colorado Avalanche win a Stanley Cup in 2001 before retiring.

no shit! probation? sorry Ray, but you could've easily killed yourself or some innocent person. He's damn lucky he didn't!

3x the limit. Sorry, but he should see jail time!

First time offender. Did more damage to his sweet vintage pickup than he did to the Horton's coffee shop. I do not know Canadian law, but I expect the fact that this got dragged out a full year to reach this point suggests that ROR was negotiating with the prosecutors, (he's known to be a tough negotiator). I do not expect much more than a hefty fine and a very contrite Ryan.

I guess the lesson in all this is if you get a wee bit tipsy and then try to use the unconventional drive-thru at the coffee shop, get out and walk away.

It also helps if the "witness" is a world-class bimbo.

I guess the only thing left is to win another Masterton.

    E. Kane turns himself in and gets cuffed; odd that since he turned himself in and the charges are non-criminal. Perp walk stuff.

Still this bangs the pooch and BUF has no recourse but to wait it out since they could not get 25% of his (hockey) value in a trade.

The part that I hate the most is the smarmy Jets' fans are looking like they were right about this guy, even though they demonstrated world-class boorishness in the process.

Nobody named Kane should go to Buffalo. Ever!

Can't wait for Evander Kane's court appearance.
What's worse, TM taking on all that baggage or Evander Kane himself?

TM gets a pass on the Kane trade for simple reasons. Other than the draft pick, he gave up nothing that the team wants. (Nothing.) He also got Bogosian and Kasdorf who could be a decent prospect.
TM also gets a pass because it is better to fail trying than to not try at all. He has obviously been trying very hard to make the Sabres better. The early results are outstanding on that measure. (Outstanding.)

Show me a GM that does not have an occasional failure and I will show you a GM that IS a failure.

If Kane busts in BUF it will not be a negative reflection on TM; it'll be a negative reflection on Kane. At least it would not be fair to pin this on the GM.

I think TM gets a pass overall but this trade isnt looking good for Buffalo to this point. as youve mentioned the pick is valuable and Myers has real value, but i agree that TM dumped some trash on the Jets.

Well, if the "best" player in the trade (Kane) turns to shite on a shovel, (that's Irish for "shit on a shovel"), then it takes the luster off this trade.
I think Myers' value is nosediving.

The bottom line is that an aggressive GM is going to miss sometimes. I prefer that Kane works out, but I will always be happy with the trade since Armia went to WPG.

i was actually thinking that Evander Kane had a good shot at a nice rebound year. first year on new team + coming off season ending injury............. figured year 2 would be better. this nonsense makes me change my mind.

I could (truthfully) cite the fact that the allegations against E. Kane are not too bad relative to the all too common examples throughout sports.

The reality is he rubs me as a self-center shithead. The kind of person that attracts trouble.

The last prominent Kane case in Buffalo has taught us to allow the judicial process to take its course. Still, it looks like Kane may be incapable of acting like a responsible adult; I doubt he ever finds success commensurate with his talent - at least not in Buffalo.

Buffalo seemed to have mastered the art of wrecking young players' development. I give credit to Darcy Regier.
