ok ok so the comics of ther 70's aren't worth alot. doesn't mean he didn;t collect the rare ones.

retired at 35 ? wow. i can't imagine. im 47 and got 18 years left to retirement if i live that long.

No, he was an eight year old kid that bought the latest comics up the street at the department store. This would've been around 1979, like I said, if they're worth anything, it's not much and I doubt he'll sell them anyway.

That guy that retired at 35 is about 52 right now, he always made sure that the rare albums were signed by at least one beatle and always paid a professional to make sure they were authentic signatures.

I bought an edition of Time magazine on the week I was born for $10 about twenty years ago. I'm so sick of reading about Nixon and vietnam, with those cigarette ads, I'll give it away for free.

i have some magazines saved for my office and the cigarette ads are funny. after watching the tv series Mad Men and the whole show was about landing advertising jobs, it's funny to see ads that worked in the 70's.

how many albums did he buy to retire at 35 ? how did he get the $400 to pay for them in the 1980's ? $400 is a lot to pay for an album now let alone in the 1980's after Lennon was killed.

He used to buy about five or six a year, then he opened up a shop called beatlemania. It wasn't only albums, it was guitars, drum sets, a lot of paraphenalia.

I remember when my dad used to take me to the barber, he would have playboy books on a coffee table.

Well, over the last 5-10 years beatle auctions started to become popular. Ringo Starrs original drum set was bought for $1.75M by the owner of the indianapolis colts. The guy that sold it to him bought the set in '88 for $15K.

WATSON AND HOLMES - i saw it for free. typical dumb WIll Ferrell movie. exactly what i expected for a 90 min movie. not as bad as i thought, but bad enough. total money grab.

VICE--Christian Bale was terrific and a sound lock to win his second Oscar next month. THe way the movie was film and shown was odd. odd storytelling to boot. they have the credits come down in the middle of the movie only to pick up the story again? it jumps all around too. no idea who jesse plemons was playing till the end. movie could've been a ton better. the director just fucked it up on how he filmed it.

bumblebee- No idea what was going on in this movie as it was a prequel. the voices were all muttered. turned it off mid-way through as i was dozing off. awesome 80's soundtrack though.

spiderman into the spider verse- no idea wtf this movie was about and these past and present peter parkers ? dozing off halfway through so i turned it off. didn't like how it was filmed and made.

beautiful boy. wow. true story of the young son of Steve Carrell falling into a terrible drug addiction. Carrell in most years would be a lock for an Oscar nom, but this year is stacked, so he won't get one. The kid however, Timothee Calamet, who was Oscar Nominated last year is a lock to be nominated again in the Best Supporting role. Will the Academy give M. Ali 2 Oscars out of 3 years? Christop Waltz did thator 2 Oscars out of 4 years and didn't deserve one of them ! I think the kid has a chance at the Oscar. He's terrific in the role and the ending 2 scenes are gut wrenching to watch a 23 yr old pull them off. Ali didn't deserve his Oscar for Moonlight as he's barely in the movie. Sadly, he does deserve one for Green Book. Who wins ?

Find a '70's era Playboy. Look at the ads.

    You'll find 3 things.

    Booze

    Cigarettes

    Stereo equipment

And lived thru it. That's the amazing part !!!

Even in the 70's,, some of those girls would have killed me.

It would have taken the mortician a week to pry that smile off my face !!!:lol:
