Why would they be protesting...? The black character (Sidney Portier) is the hero - it's the Southerners who looked bad because of their bigotry and ineptitude.
ugh-they protest anything. i was kidding but knowing those 2, they would protest stieger's role. haha
fuck sharpton. if i want to see or hear anything from a guy with big silly crap hanging around his neck, gimme flavor flav.
They Shoot Horses, Don't They? this is a story about a dance marathon during the depression, and it's maybe the most depressing movie i've ever seen. 2 hours, and there's not one single funny moment - hell, not even anything to smile at. that being said - it's a damn good film. yowza, yowza, yowza! lulz--you wanna see sad - see the original grapes of wrath. sad, dull and boring. how that truck doesn't turn over and kill them all is a mystery. saw 2 guns last night. lame plot but decent action as expected from denzel and marky mark.
i've seen the grapes of wrath. that movie stunk. but i didn't find it particularly depressing, aside from being depressed that i wasted my time watching it.
imaging living that life...? depressing as hell. nothing about the dust bowl is exciting. kate upton naked in the dust bowl isn't even exciting like alone henry fonda.
Saw The Grapes of Wrath and enjoyed it. And Kate Upton in a parka reading the telephone book is exciting.
I agree but a movie about the dust bowl and depression isn't all that great either. and what happens to henry fonda's character? he runs off and you don't know if he lives or dies. 2 hrs for that ending?
saw the remake of robocop! very solid. better than expected and great special effects and action scenes. a good cast too. much better than the original.
Ranked #21 on the American Film Institute's Top 100 movies of all time. Life doesn't always have neat and tidy endings, Cat. Didn't we have that same discussion about the end of "No Country for Old Men"...? I'm seeing a pattern here... LOL!
i'm a huge fan of "classic" movies. i can't say enough good things about TCM. but i thought Grapes of Wrath sucked, and i still do.
i also consider citizen kane to be one of the most overrated movies ever. iirc, it sits at number one on that list. other movies on that list i think are overrated - gone with the wind and casablanca.
if anyone hasn't seen the list we're talking about, here it is: http://www.afi.com/100years/movies10.aspx a couple of others on the list i feel have no business there: high noon and silence of the lambs. one thing i'll say in their favor, tho - i'm a big hitchcock fan, and i have a pretty strong opinion about which of his films i feel is the best. nice to see they agree with me on that one.
