double feature yesterday - Hell of High Water - in limited theaters. Really solid. Kind of slow and Ben Foster is an absolute nutcase but solid. I said this before - something happened to Jeff Bridges bc all he does now in all of his movies is mumbles! I don't know if he had an accident or Bells Palsy but his speech is almost unrecognizable! Geez. Good action and decent concept. A- The Shallows-thank God Blake Lively is nice eye candy, although she had a ton of work done, bc she can't act her way out of a wet sack. Expected better sharks scenes. The sharks actions were almost as bad as Jaws and the Orca at the end. Expected better. Not a terrible story though. Thought it would be way worse. C+
Regression-the movie is supposed to be about secret cults and demon worshipers, but it wasn't. Spoiler the movie is all a lie by Emma Watson as she was knocked up by a cop and the cop didn't want to run away with her, so she makes up some story to make her Dad think he raped/attacked her, but he can't remember. Regression is putting the memories into someone's head something happened but didn't. Watson was great as this little naive girl, who is really behind the whole thing as a lie and coverup. A- Marauders - wow. Was on it's way to being a super awesome movie, but then the whole thing falls apart with a confusing ending i still don't get and understand. Spoiler The bank robberies are among the best on film in recent years and maybe top 3 ever. the plot is solid to the last 15 min. Then total chaos and confusion. B- Bruce Willis is now the new straight to DVD king. He was in Marauders and has 2 from the coming attractions that went straight to DVD too. I guess he needs the money.
the girl on the train - wow! best movie i've seen in years. A++ Spoiler U think it's going one way and all signs point to 1 person, but it's not. how the signs point to her has been done bf but u never see it coming and not like the way they did it in the movie. well done. this movie is like Gone Girl but a lot better. I'm smelling Oscar Nom for Emily Blunt.
The Accountant - wow. Ben Affleck's character is a mix between John Nash, Will Hunting, Rainman and Jason Bourne. It's a solid flick, but a tad confusing and doesn't mix his accounting life and other life well. It leaves out a lot of details too. Cute Anna Kendrick is very unbelievable as this employee who finds an error in the accounting books of this mega company that sets the whole movie in motion. she's very cute and hot, but i doubt she could balance her checkbook let alone the company's books. the big ending was lackluster and i wasn't shocked at all by the big surprise. rather boring. this movie could've been so much better, but was just boring and dull. C+
Whatever you do, if you get a chance to watch Equals, don't waste your time. Stars Kristen Stewart and some other guy in the future where love is not allowed. Very boring and silly. I don't give too many movies an F+, but this one is one of the few.........
yeah she's hit or miss. hell she won best Supporting Actress at Cannes last year! Much like Star Wars to Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher or The Sopranos to the late James Gandolfini, KS is tagged to Twilight until she dies. People can't see her in any other role. Harrison Ford was smart and lucky to get Indiana Jones and Blade Runner or else, he may have suffered the same fate as his co-stars...
I think she's all miss. Twilight is pure dreck and nobody could've ever saved that from its own terribleness...but as to her, she's not particularly good-looking, completely devoid of personality, and can't act a lick...how she keeps getting roles is beyond me. A couple of movies she's in are tolerable, but that's in spite of her, not because of her.
bwhahahahahaha = great verbiage udog. love it. there are many actors and actors who are not attractive and get roles. and hell there are some that are good looking, but can't act, and they get roles too. fans love Twilight-how i have no idea, but like Harry Potter, they love it. The acting in HP isn't that much better than Twilight. Yes KS can't act very well, but today's movies don't need a great actor to be in them. So much crap now anyone can act and they do! The worst is kids tv shows. those kids are getting paid and can't act at all. I don't mind her dull boring look as that's how she is. I don't think think she's unattractive mind you, but she is so boring looking it brings her down.
At least HP has some charm and humor to it and appeals to a broad audience. Twilight is for pre-teen girls and that's it. My daughter was that age when the first film came out and loved the books and it was one of the rare occasions she actually asked me to watch something with her and OMG it was so painfully stupid...the vampires...they shimmer in the sunlight! they play baseball in thunderstorms! Awful. Just awful. And I had to pretend I liked it so as not to shatter my poor daughter's pre-teen heart. Stephanie Meyer and everyone associated with that garbage can spend eternity choking on a pile of syphillis-infected moose penises as far as I'm concerned for doing that to me.
u dog - in the last movie in the credits a mushy song is played. a girl from my HS (years after i graduated) wrote it and sang it and made millions off of it. its used for wedding songs now. no lie.
*PARDON* I read the books (Twilight) and watched the movies liked them both and I am far from a teenage girl. Yes her vampires sparkle I found that a refreshing twist on why vampires avoid sunlight. She took the vampire myth and made it her own and rolled to a crap load of money in doing so why there so much hate I'll never understand. Btw this is who you watch the movie for:
Hacksaw Ridge-very solid. It's like 2 movies and the first part is telling the back story of real life hero Desmond Doss. It's an hour long and ok. The second half is all battle and more gruesome and telling than Saving Private Ryan. Mel Gibson does an excellent job in the second half with the brutal battle scenes and war injuries. the most brutal i have ever seen in a movie. more than Braveheart, Platoon and Saving Private Ryan. It barely shows you why he won't pick up a gun and when it does it's very late in the movie and kind of a let down. And it mentions he doesn't eat meat. no reason why? Vince Vaughn is excellent as the Sergeant in both halves of the movie. Very solid and could see a Oscar Nomination. Overall, it was good. COuld've used less of the first part and more of the second part. A-
