non-stop--good movie. ending and bad guys a little odd and the last 10 seconds leaves me to question the movie but good stuff. bad words--funny as hell but crude. not for little kids, even though a little kid is the center of the movie with batemen. still pretty damn funny.
Saw Guardians of the Galaxy last night. Incredible. Loved it. The word "epic" gets thrown around like it's paper, and I can't fucking stand it. Why? Because a movie like this deserves a word like "epic". Awesome. Caught 'This is Where I Leave You' a few minutes later. What a movie. Touching, funny, and sincerely relatable. I won't tell you what to think or what to feel - I'll just tell you that you'll do a lot of both during this movie. Really, really well done. My roommate and I left the theater planning on adding both movies to the DVD collection when they came out.
seeing neighbors tonight on dvd and godzilla tomorrow. seeing nightcrawlers in the theater next friday. saw gone girl and i don't know who said the book is different but it isn't and still blows. the ending is so unbelievable it ruins it.
neighbors could've been a lot funnier. then they tried to get serious and it didn't work. and bryne and rogan were not believeable as a couple. godzilla was not as bad as i thought but the fight scenes were mainly at night so you couldnt see a damn thing.
For anyone interested in sci-fi the previews for interstellar look interesting. Now granted it has that shitbag McCognahey in it but it also has that darling of a peach Anne Hathaway.
i didn't like mcconaughey bf true detective or dallas buyers club but he's really changed it around. he's a good actor.
saw nightcrawler. wow. creepy ass movie. jake gylennhall is terrific. kind of an odd movie but good stuff. seeing foxcatcher in 2 weeks.
Escape Plan (2013) good cast, great story concept, poorly executed. there are holes in this plot big enough for serena williams and vince wilfork to walk thru side by side. gotta give this one a fail. Triangle (2009) i liked this one a lot. it's a psychological thriller about a boat trip gone bad. the plot mechanism they use is a very difficult one to handle well. i won't say any more, as i don't know how to without being a spoiler. i will say i thought they did a damn good job of building atmosphere. plus, i've had a thing for melissa george ever since i saw 30 days of night, so it's got that going for it too. recommended.
lulz--escape plan was good. when it comes to arnold and sly i don't expect hamlet in the park by lawrence olivier. haha triangle is not the movie i thought when i saw your post. i will check it out. thanks. i rent so many bad movies, i don't bother to list them on here. all i will say is john cusack is cashing a lot of checks lately for straight to dvd release movies. ugh.
actually, cat, i liked both of them in it. i have no issues with either of these guys in a film like this, it's what they were born to do, and they do it well. my problems with it were in the storyline. for the operators of the world's most secure prison, those people struck me as consistently stupid. i couldn't help thinking at several points that the only reason something wasn't handled differently was that the movie would pretty much end
yeah but lulz you're smarter than the average guy and head of a prison so that doesn't shock me. haha many movies could say that. once andy duphrane told the warden he would never implicate him on his scams, the warden should've killed him or sent him to the hole forever and got another accountant. to risk all that on an inmate who knows accounting is a bit much. hhahaha cutter - posted bullet and everyone raves about the car chase. i think a 80's movie called "to live and die in LA" has a better car chase than bullet and the french connection but bc it's not a famous movie no one talks about it.
seeing foxcatcher next friday. can't wait. i dislike steve carrell but he's not playing a usual carrell role. the trailers look amazing. already talking oscar for carrell or tatum or both!
bad news lulz--they're making a sequel. i find jesse eisenberg is just a regular douchebag in most of his movies (see the Social Network) and it scares me he's the next lex luthor in superman v batman! ugh. it's how he talks that comes off as arrogant and snobish. yes woody, michael caine, mark ruffalo etc come off as assholes. even morgan freeman is kind of a jerk.
xmen- days of future past. hated it. really hokey and bryan singer assumes the audience are a bunch of morons here. won't reveal anything but the whole wolverine/ellen page thing was so ridiculous i am still baffled to that's the best thing he could think of for this movie. this is the same guy who made the usual suspects. now after some lame xmen movies and superman returns, he's just out for the check. his movies blow.
no surprise, cat. it's what hollywood does - milk any shred of a concept for all they can get out of it, regardless of merit. if people will keep paying to see crap movies, they will keep making them - and the evidence is overwhelming that people WILL pay to see garbage. we have become a nation so starved for entertainment that the studios can get away with whatever they want. i rest my case
so so true. this generation has no creativity whatsoever, I am SOOOOOOO tired of remake movies. I refuse to watch any of them. really sad what studios pass off for entertainment anymore
cutter--where have you been? i need you on the ND thread. you guys may recall i write screenplays. out of the 8 ive written some are very creative yet breaking into hollywood as a screenwriter is like breaking into Fort Knox. I even read a article on Yahoo stating only 30% of movies now are new and the rest are from novels or remakes. not all of my stories are movie worthy, but i think 2-4 are after seeing the crap you guys talk about. i'll never get into the business bc it's like a frat house and they only allow certain members. i am going to go into the major screenplay contest route, but that's all i can do...
