The New York Jets draft is complete: Round 1 (3): Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma Round 3 (8): Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, OLB, Oklahoma Round 4 (7): Jeff Holland, OLB, Auburn Round 5 (20): Will Dissly, TE, Washington Round 6 (5): JoJo Wicker, DE, Arizona State Round 7 (17): Colby Gossett, OG, Appalachian State
Got the quarterback you wanted and added some pop to the outside of the defense. Dissly is an interesting puzzle piece. I like the Wicker pick and Gossett is a solid get at the bottom. I like it overall. Did you consider taking a running back at any point or are you comfortable with what the Jets have done in FA?
This actually feels like a Bengals draft... Good value on Quan Smith and Tracy Walker. I'm surprised that he doesn't get talked up a little more in this safety class. Well done.
Everything fits right in with the Falcons. I like the speculative move for Godwin to linebacker. He's a bit comparable to Riley and could be a plug in for that spot when needed. The Andrews pick is interesting. He's at a position that your Falcons have been struggling to get right and this seems like an immediate upgrade and possibly the long awaited answer.
Adding Lazard to the WR group is a really solid move because of the type of receivers you have now and the specific element he brings to that room. The Vikings are at the top of my list for possible landing spots for Donte Jackson. Having both Ballage and Cook makes for an interesting dynamic in the ground game. I think you made solid moves to upgrade the team in purple.
Lots and lots of high end defense at the top with additions to the line at the bottom. The moves at the top are the kind that can push a defense from playoff to championship caliber. I like this draft quite a bit.
Got the quarterback, got the top defensive player on my board, got a first round talent at RB at the top of the second, got a first round WR at the middle of the second and rounded out the rest of the works with solid players at positions of need. You turned your first two picks of round two into an extra pair of first round picks, which makes for an un-fucking-believable value at the top of your draft. You should fill out a resume and hand deliver it to Dorsey.
My #15 ranked OT.... which in this class isn't saying much as it's a shallow class and there is a good drop off from 14 to 15.
Thanks! Generally happy overall, probably reached a little on Dissly but I saw him as the best remaining TE available. I think edge rushers is the only position the Jets are super lacking in right now which is why I went super aggressive to get Oko and Holland. I don't think the Jets have an exceptional runningback on the roster but we have so much depth that I think drafting another would be a waste. Powell, Crowell and Rawls all provide solid options and McGuire can build on his promising rookie season. Not much space left in the stable.
