I was deciding between 3 as well. I just took my time. If someone took one or two it would have made it easier.

6'4" originally a Wide Reciever but he is long and add about 20lbs and he could be a great option for a target inside at TE

*Interesting Tidbits: I went into this draft knowing our run defense had to improve from dead last in 2017. I also knew that I wanted to improve our own run game if possible.
I traded back from 4(9) to gain 33 and 34 in that round. When I made the move I knew Micah Kiser and Nick Deluca were the top two names I was hoping might be available later on. I got lucky, chose Deluca at 33 since he was available and I actually converted 4(34) into a 2019 3rd rounder (Bills). How about that for value on a single 4th round pick
Overall, I give my own Skins draft a B to B+. I improved the run D. I might have improved the run offense. Got Wadley who I like, as well as I know the Skins are looking hard at him too, and grabbed some O-line depth later on.

What can I say? I can't take credit for Ballard's trade back from 3 to 6, which gave me a lot of 2nd round ammo. But I did gain an extra 2nd this year (OT Rankin) and next year, plus a 7th next year through my own finagling. I watched an interview with Chris Ballard the night before we started this draft, where he basically said "I want to bring guys up in the Colts culture." Translation: I want guys who don't suck and who are rookies...so we can make them see the game our way. I took that as the basis of my approach. The Colts have a lot of needs and I didn't want to get too locked in on any one area. But if anything got prioritized, it was defense in general, and anyone who can by virtue of their being part of the gameplan take a bit of pressure off of Andrew Luck. Easy right, that's only 2/3rds of the roster.

When Cleveland snagged Chubb at 4, I knew I wanted to move back from 6. Buffalo gave me the extra 2 this year and next to slide to 12. At 12 I knew safety wasn't a big need for us, but having James as a top 5 player in this draft I couldn't help myself. James and Malik Hooker next to each other is IMO an obvious top 3 safety tandem in the league. That would help us against both the pass and the run. I have had Kerryon pegged as our 2nd rounder since the very first mock we did this year, but didn't want to tip my hand. I think the kids a stud and can pair with Marlon Mack (especially behind our newly reinforced O-line) to take a bunch of pressure off our passing game. Our new head coach came from Philly, who utilized power running well last year also. So I gave the new coach something to work with. The O-linemen I landed in round 2 were good fortune. I didn't actually think Wynn would make it to me, so when he did it was one of the easiest picks I've had. I personally think he's the 2nd best OL in this class.
I was torn between Rankin, Crosby, and Jamarco Jones at 2(21), but ultimately decided that Rankin fit the profile of a developmental dancing LT the best. He will be groomed as the eventual replacement for Anthony Castonzo when that marriage ends. OLB Darius Leonard is a rising player on draft boards. Showed well at the senior bowl. Clean on and off the field. Has speed, and immediately wins our starting Will spot. Pettis in the 3rd was also fortuitous. I considered him a round earlier, and think he can be a quality #2 WR while also bringing some added value in the return game. He's pretty good.

Round 4 things officially became all about value. I wanted to take Lazard at 4(4), but when Duke Ejiofor was there I snagged him instead. I gave him a 2nd round grade. He's tough, and great with his hands. Not the twitchiest, but he'll develop into a good run defender who can rotate in on occasional pass downs. Holton Hill I took the risk on at 14. I think he will fit like a glove in our new (although 7 years old/renewed) Tampa-2. The real team actually had a private workout with him as well. So I pulled the trigger on a tradeup with Cleveland to get this pick. I was sure someone was going to snipe him before 4.32 (my next pick). At 32 I took Derrick Nnadi. Not a need for us, and he's not a flashy player. But he's low to the ground and gets good leverage. I think he'll replace Al Woods eventually as the starter at NG.

In round 6 I grabbed Greg Stroman, who I believe is being overlooked. Partially due to size. But the kid is sticky in coverage, a true competitor, and if all else fails he has value as a punt returner. So I definitely helped special teams in this draft as well. My UDFA's bring some added competition to our LB room. It's not the strongest group on our team, so the competition might do us some good identifying the gamers who belong here.

Sorry. I put a lot of effort into this one. It deserved a good breakdown!

FYI for the DRAFT VALUE CHALLENGE Joe and I will fill in all the missing UDFA spots We'll finish that tomorrow night.

We will put the rules up by Saturday. For those who haven't participated before, it's fairly easy and very fun. Be sure to fill out a ballot just for shits and giggles. Quew won it running away last year, because he managed to correctly predict three exact draft picks (a feat I personally doubt will ever be accomplished again). That alone was worth 150 points I believe. I think the most correct we've had in a single year before that was a single one.

Any questions, PM LAOJoe or myself
