Yeah that sounds like a bit of a scary pairing. I struggle with the BPA vs. need decision all the time. The draft shouldn't be about next year it should be about your 4 - 5 year plan. But sometimes your needs are too big to ignore and you just can't plug them all with quality in FA. Or, you know, if you have a 37 year old QB that the owner is afraid to move on from then maybe it really is about next year and you take Barkley...
My local Costco is in the mall. The food court isn't even inside Costco it's a separate area outside the store. The area is very diverse and working class. Plenty of families do just what you are describing. I almost wonder if the decision to keep it available to everyone was a good will gesture to the community. That said I think my 6 year old would eat exclusively at the costco food court and adjacent chipotle if I let him. I imagine in 7 - 10 years he will eat exclusively at those places because that's the only portion that can sate a teenager the doctor tells me will be 6'4" and 225 pounds if he keeps on the track he has been on since birth...
That's interesting that you rate him so highly. When you traded down I did wonder if you ranked QB's 2-4 so closely that you decided any would be a good addition so take the extra picks and let someone else narrow it down for you. Unconventional for sure, but not impossible. Well, the Bears GM has made picks before that suggests he places a premium on elite athleticism, so I actually think Edmunds may be the pick. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but give me NFL average athleticism and elite football instincts/IQ every day of the week. I've seen the comparison's to Urlacher and find them very misplaced personally. People always used to talk about Urlacher's range, leadership qualities etc, but he was also the smartest Bears LB ive seen play. He was smarter than Singletary. Media analysts who suggest that's the bar for Edmunds aren't even being fair. But I agree if he can continue to learn the playing of the position its not hard to imagine him reaching a pro bowl level of play one day.
Back to back Notre Dame OTs. When the first one goes that well, why not I guess. Watch any game other than NC State and McGlinchey is a first rounder. Chubb beat him (and Nelson a little) up that day.
I don't think it's unfair to say that his ceiling is that high. But yes right now he lacks instincts, and, well any semblance of understanding the actual position. I thought he would be an incredible fit in the Giants defense though. The are switching to a 3-4 and brought in a hyper aggressive DC. Edmunds is basically just running down hill all day long and behind Snacks and Tomlinson I think he would be relatively clean and give the Giants the type of range our fans have been pining for for YEARS. He is good as an extra blitzer, lined up as a slot corner at times for VT and hasn't even grown into his body yet. If he can learn to play with a little more discipline and develop an understanding of how to be a linebacker I think he could be the best player in this draft class. But that is a hell of a lot of if's and but's. For the record I traded down to 5 assuming I was missing out on the QB's. I don't like Allen at all and he was the guy I figured would make it to 5 if any did. My gamble was on Barkley. I thought there was an outside chance he would get to me at 5 and if not I knew I would still get a blue chip player at 5 while loading up for 2019. If I didn't think there was any chance of Barkley being there I would have taken a different deal. It worked out in my favor and I am pretty happy about that at the moment.
