With pick 113, the 49ers select: LB Jeffrey Bassa, Oregon @StlCrtn is now on the clock with two picks, I believe
I was hoping he'd be there later. He was my emergency "my board is wiped" pick with the Raiders. BTW it was was wiped right when I took the last guy on it.
You run one meh 40, and the draftnik world pretends your tape doesn't exist. Edit: he'll probably end up being one of the more obvious values on draft day. Or a forward thinking team will spend a top 90 and just know they have a football player that will help the team.
Yeah that was reported probably a day or two later. Still seems to have had small effect on the draftnik community's perspective.
Apparently he didn't want to make any excuses but his agent or someone used that to market him later along with the excuse to toss out the results. Some people are still quoting his combine though like those numbers matter.
There are differences and similarities. Corley is a thick 5'10", will probably never run deep routes and is supposed to be a gadget-Deebo Samuels type. Williams is 6'3" or 4". Corley will probably not run fades and they are supposed to try to use him in space (like Williams). Where they are very alike is that they are both supposed to be explosive, with Williams making the Freaks List, but TBH, I have yet to witness Corley do much. Corley also will never be a good high point in traffic and that's something Williams does very well. Both are been used to line up in the backfield and will present challenging and winning matchups hopefully. Williams should. With Fields at QB who can and will take off at any time, plus the combination of Wilson, Williams and Corley a creative OC can design the right plays for them. It's also somewhat of a BPA/needs type situation in that I am not enamored with what was available elsewhere based on the holes in the Jets roster. IOW, sniped a plenty over the last few picks and didn't want to bring on more snipes in the next 5 picks. Short story: I don't love Corley, didn't like the pick then and Williams can do more than him and better for a 3rd round pick. No idea why Joe Douglas was in love with Corley. He even tried to move up to the 2nd for him. ugh
