    Niners

    1 (3) Justin Fields / QB
    2(27) Richie Grant / S
    4 (5) Kary Vincent Jr / CB
    4(12) Hunter Long / TE
    5(11) Robert Hainsey / OT
    5(25) Cornell Powell / WR
    5(28)
    5(36)
    7 (2)

Took the best QB available after the trade up. Sets the franchise up for the next 10 years with a gunslinger who can be the face of the franchise. Traded back in the 2nd, gaining 4(5) and moving up from 6(10) to later in the 5th. Then selected Richie Grant for his ability to see the field in zone, and his versatility to come down and cover the slot in a pinch. He's also a fairly reliable tackler at the position. Followed that up some 45+ picks later with the pick I gained trading back in round two on another athlete in the secondary. This team is lacking talented youth in the back four so I didn't shy away focusing there heavily earlier on in this draft.

This team and it's fans seem to be very interested in adding a TE this draft. Having George Kittle is great. They must feel there's a need for a better backup behind him. While Long will never compare athletically to Kittle, he does offer the team that grabs him a little bit of everything. Blocking, sure hands, route running. He'll be more security blanket than explosive playmaker, but I think he'll be a good one. Most recently I selected Robert Hainsey from Notre Dame. He's shown some versatility positionally. And he offers a lot of the traits you want in starting O-linemen. I was pleasantly surprised when he survived until this pick. Cornell Powell to me was almost deployed as a deep threat only at Clemson. I've seen some videos on his techniques working off the line, and his concentration and hands are on display throughout his highlight tape. I think he could be a nice complement to what SF already has with Deebo and Aiyuk. I'm happy to add to a receiver group that could stand to improve it's depth.

I personally think Cornell is being overlooked, for all the guys that are consistently gone before the 5th round it's strange to me he seems to consistently be available.

    6'0" 204lbs
    4.53 40
    36 1/2 vertical
    10'08" broad jump
    7.03 3-cone
Coming out of a big program / played top competition

Maybe mid-late 4th is his draft ceiling, but I think it might prove to be a steal if he does. Some team could get a nice consolation prize without having to spend a top 90 pick to get it.

This time of year people can get overly focused on the 40 times. Something I remembered hearing had me looking something up. 4.53 sounds decent, not great. But here's a list of guys running in that range and their times.

    Michael Thomas 4.57
    DeAndre Hopkins 4.57
    Davante Adams 4.56
    Mike Evans 4.53
    Keenan Allen even worse

Seeing stats like that if anything make me want to avoid drafting your 4.3 guys. Julio and Tyreek Hill are the only two studs who hit sub 4.4

Another guy that slipped to F/A rounds in GMO draft. He's such a late bloomer, I think it scares people a little. It would be nice if there was more than one season of production. Not surprised at all to see him come off the board here. I can tell you he was on the KC list and the CLE list last round.
