As our resident UT alum I'd like to say that even I am unsure of what to make of Palmer. He has good size and runs good routes, and he also reportedly had a good week at the senior bowl. That being said our QB play was so bad his whole time here that we've never seen if he can have sustained success in a good offense. He could go on to carve out a very nice WR2 role or he could flame out after we all attributed his lack of production to poor QB play.
He reminds me a bit of another receiver that I liked that never panned out. Actually, while I was typing that first sentence, a second player popped into my head as a comp and that guy didn't work out either. lol Some player types need to be in situations that afford them the ability to grow into their game. You take that away from them with their first stop in the league and it can be over before it begins. Marcell Ateman is one, and the other is DeAngelo Yancey. I think both of them last two seasons before being bounced out.
The Tennessee Titans select James Hudson, OT, Cincinnati He's super raw as a late switch to the position but we can afford to sit on him and wait for him to be ready. He has a lot to like but would do well with an OT like Lewan taking him under his wing for a bit. The hope is he can be a long term solution at our RT hole and barring that a good swing tackle depth piece.
This is making me feel much better about how I did in the GMO draft, as these were two of my target players.
