Lions on deck mulling about also.

Feel free to PM us trade offers, but we won’t wait very long at all. Got a guy we’re excited about.

I just picture each trade considered as sitting on a scale. On the one side the value (weight) of the player(s) you would choose if you don’t move.
On the other, the pick(s) you will gain in value estimation based on strength of draft class matched with team needs, plus the value (weight) of the player you will get instead moving back.
Whichever side is heavier puts more value in our proverbial coffers, and therefore equals what is best for my team.

You also have a situation this year where a few teams in the top 5 would REALLY like to trade down. What happened here is sort of what I expect to see on draft night. Chase goes 2, there is nothing there the Lions can't pass up on after that and they try and find a trade back to 5 or 6 and they take it for probably less value than the fans are going to be happy with. But that late second is a valuable pick for a team that needs extra talent immediately and it costs the Lions almost nothing to take it. The Giants would also love to trade down but I just don't really see anyone making an offer for the pick all things considered.

As you say -- all about the circumstances. A move from the Dolphins is more about just stopping other teams from making the move and it costs the Lions very little to trade back 2 spots. Since it costs them very little -- the compensation shouldn't need to be as much.

Now that my son is settled and I am actually at my desk...

    The New York Giants select:

    Jedrick Wills
    Offensive Tackle
    Alabama

Gettleman apparently loves a different tackle but guys like Wills with clean technique and an awareness of the opponents pass rush plan very rarely fail. I'll take the polished pass blocker I can set and forget for the next 10 years please and thank you.

    Two things:

    1) That man has some serious eyebrows.

    2) If I can tell he has some serious eyebrows under his helmet the picture choosen is too damn big lol.

I like that choice Xinik. Oddly enough, because I was behind on my scouting when we started the GMO, and because I had two teams with no first round pick I figured it would help me catch up if I started scouting from projected 15th pick back, so the consensus top four tackles were basically the last thing I did.

I came to the same conclusion, that Wills is the top of the class as far as pass blocking, likely in general.

@xinik, RT and I discussed a possible auto for you just in case last night. I was all over you going OT sinec you went OT heavy in the GMO free agency but then RT pulled up your message about a clear top 2 in the class and taking Okudah so we made it that. Looks like the need clearly won out.

Jaguars on deck open to trading down. PM me offers and "Jeff" and I can discuss it. He's the actual Jags fan I'm doing it with.

Just for the record, had the Giants done what I expected them to do and sniped Okudah, this would’ve been my pick for Detroit. Dude is a stud.

If the Lions are high on either of them then they are asking the Dolphins for a bottle of Purell or something to move down. Actually what am I saying? That may be a steeper price than a 2nd.

P.S. Just like the GMO draft the Chargers stood pat and got their preferred Herbert over Tua option again, although the GM was different this time.

I think they can get more, if im Miami im ecstatic they gave up leas than the bears a few yrs back.
I personally think Miami should just stick in pick. They need as many players as possible.

So the REAL Giants did things very differently than I did. In the GMO I signed a mid-tier veteran FA to play DB (Prince Amukamura) but Gettleman went shopping at the top of the DB market. Having invested 6 draft picks into CB's in 2 years and now a big free agent contract... I just don't see how he could justify taking Okudah here. He is absolutely #2 on my personal board. But Gettleman's strategy (if you want to call what he does a strategy) makes it nearly impossible to stick to the board here. You have to let the kids play and see if any of them are any good at some point. He spent 3 picks to get Deandre Baker last year, he used a 3rd on Sam Beal he made his bed and now he has to lie in it -- even if it means not going BPA because he can't help himself.
