Ruggs can actually run most routes pretty effectively. He’s not just a guy who can run fast, but it definitely is an added bonus when he catches the ball. I see him as a guy who will make his mark with big plays, but mostly will excel on kick off and punt returns early. If you can get him on a slant or crossing route his YAC is off the charts. I suspect any team drafting him early will use him with those 3 things in mind. Which is why a team like the 49ers with Kyle Shanahan calling the plays makes him even more dangerous.
Fortunately I had alternative plans. Kinlaw was target #1. Tristan Wirfs was #3. Option #2 is still available. Option #4 was to trade down and take one of two other players that are both still available. Option #5 was to take one of those guys if the top three were all gone and no trade came up.
