I'm not a hockey guy (getting there fast though) , but I thought CBJ were just smothering on defense throughout the series...Granted, I missed the first period of game 1...Conveniently. lol!
Jordan Brown? He was probably on everyone's radar. He was a Combine invite, and the NFL web site has him rated as the #16 CB in this draft class - ahead of guys like Kendall Sheffield, Michael Jackson, Isaiah Johnson, Blace Brown and Corey Ballentine. Denmark is the true flyer. Passing up Brown to take him would have been a questionable roll of the dice.
Very true. Wrong choice of words... He wasn't drafted in the first mock somehow....I wasn't sure if others were sandbagging on a few faves like I was, or not.
Raiders 1(2) Nick Bosa: DE - Ohio State 1(24) Noah Fant: TE - Iowa 1(27) Josh Jacobs: RB - Alabama 2(27) Chauncey Gardner-Johnson: DB - Florida 4(27) Bobby Okereke: LB - Stanford 6(3) Brett Rypien: QB - Boise State 7(13) Mike Bell: S - Fresno State 7(21) Cameron Smith: LB - USC 7(39) Preston Williams: WR - Colorado State I went with an approach where I stick with Carr as the unquestioned QB. First 4 picks are all starters. Gardner-Johnson likely in the slot but could take a spot on the outside. I then got what I think is a Gruden depth QB in Rypien and a safety for depth and 2 LBs for depth and possibly 1 to start. Then took the red flag but talented WR at the end of the draft. Not much of a risk as it's a pick I got from trading down a few spots at the top of the 7th round. I feel that this draft and what they have already done in the offseason puts them in position to compete as early as this year if they can gel with all their new pieces. They are probably at least a year away similar to the Browns last year but they could surprise.
Certainly surprised the 49ers. They thought they could get Bosa or Allen at 4 after trading and it allowed me to trade up with them again to get my top target for Green Bay. Reminds me about the time the real 49ers traded back thinking the Bear were going to take their guy in Solomon Thomas but went QB instead. Except that time it helped SF right away. That being said SF had one of my favourite drafts despite missing out on a top guy when they had a chance.
Right. Lamar Holmes! I was trying to remember the name of that guy. And in truth, I remember believing Konz had a shot to be pretty good. I missed that one too.
Anyone feel like doing 3 rounds of UDFA?? LOL Once you get into looking for gems, the funny thing is you find a few
After thinking it over, I vote we just keep the time slots as picked...The free for all would be great with more participation.
Yep. I knew that... EDIT: thought he was a bit lower than #16 on most boards...But I'm good with that.
We decided earlier to keep the time slots as is as well because people that already checked the times but finished their draft might not get the memo. We committed to doing it next year though.
I didn't see this. Great pick...Damn you! If that isn't a John Dorsey guy,I don't know what is.... That was absolutely PLAN A for Browns in UDFA rounds...
Probably should have taken Preston in Rd 7...That does suck. I'm with RT on the UDFA rounds....Maybe we should do 4? Nice even number...
He was always going to be my last pick for the Raiders. When RT wanted a trade up it made it easier for me. I had about 6 guys on my shortlist for my last pick. Mike Bell and Cameron Smith were 2 of them. Chris Slayton that RT took with that pick I traded was another one as was Shareef Miller that Tim took later. Bell and Smith were the names at the top though. I still have 2 guys on that list that we'll see if I can snag in UDFA.
Damn it was beautiful today....Do any of you guys ride moto's? It's the only thing that rivals football in my book... Though I am about to pass out. Good lord I'm tired. FTR: I'd like to run a contest this year. I'm gonna come up with something fun involving the NFL Draft, hopefully....I have a few ideas in mind.
