The Philadelphia Eagles Select Gardner Minshew, QB - Washington State It seems that the Eagles are probably drafting a 3rd string QB in real life. Minshew is a great fit for the system and can develop into a solid #2.
The Eagles draft, minus UDFA (which isn't the draft), is done. Philadelphia Eagles 1(28) Chris Lindstrom: G - Boston College 2(13) Dre'Mont Jones: DT - Ohio State 2(28) David Montgomery: RB - Iowa State 3(9) Deionte Thompson: S - Alabama 4(25) Terrill Hanks: LB - New Mexico State 5(28) Trey Pipkins: OT - Sioux Falls 6(24) Gardner Minshew: QB - Washington State I trade my future 3rd and 4th but the Eagles should be getting a comp 3rd and 4th among other comp picks next year so I felt it was wise to use them if I had a good reason. I traded them to move up for Jones and Thompson.
I think the 2 picks I appreciate most are likely Lindstrom and Montgomery. My least favourite is Hanks, only because he seems a bit slow to me. Time could prove me wrong. I know he’s been a tackle machine. I also like Thompson and Minshew there
Kinda sounds like you are trying to diminish what the Blue Jackets have accomplished so far, RT...We are up 3-0 on the favorites...Right now, Tampa is getting beat in every way. CBJ really got in their heads with that game 2 performance, and they brought that momentum home to Columbus. That atmosphere was crazy last night. Hopefully we can clinch our first ever playoff series win. How sweet would it be to do it against a team that nobody thought we could compete with?
I like that Hanks has the coverage mentality being a former safety that would be nice to develop. Eagles did that with Nathan Gerry but he dodnt really convert until he was drafted. I took him in a mock to convert and then the Eagles took him and he did in real life. He's no pro bowler but he's pretty solid. Hanks could be an upgrade in a similar type of role.
Not at all. I was just saying that they're already down 2-0. Going on the road, without your top offensive and top defensive player, what chance did they stand in that particular game?? I'm not taking anything away from what CLB did in the first two games. But I am saying that whatever "disadvantage" Columbus had in games 1 and 2, they sure as hell didn't have in game 3, at home, with the other team missing 2 of their 3 best players (3rd best either Stamkos or Vasilevsky).
They would. But oddsmakers know that casual bettors can't shake their emotions. They bet with their hearts. And their hearts remember Tampa being unbeatable in the regular season. They knew they could lose and have set the bar somewhere where the bets come out kind of even.
I just think they are getting out hustled, out hit, and outclassed right now....No doubt injuries play a factor, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen CBJ come together like this, and play this way. So much confidence, you would think that they were the heavy faves if ya didn't know better.
To be honest we really don't even need a safety. But 6th round on I definitely believe should be about value. I mean if you're going to reach to fill needs you'd probably have more of an impact doing so in the top 90 picks. And Willis to me might be one of the more overlooked players in this draft. Consistently ranked outside of the first four rounds, I see a guy on tape who A) loves football, and B) wants to kick your ass. And he's not horribly out of place in coverage either. I think he might end up one of those 6/7 round picks who sticks around the league for 10 years, as a special teams monster and backup SS at worst.
I agree. Often times I will take a player because the value is too good to pass up, even if it isn't a priority need....One of the biggest mistakes a GM can make is reaching...
Which they all know, and they all say...yet occasionally do anyways. I won't claim I never have. But I try not to.
Everybody does, and often times it's justifiable....Take my last CLE pick for instance, Jordan Brown. I have him in my overall top 100 players, so I think I'd be doing myself an injustice if I'd have ignored him in the 6th round and grabbed, say a Center that has a late round grade. To me it was a no brainer, and I never thought twice about any other player. He was far and away my BPA when the Browns are up....Plus, FTR, I first read about him when a CLE beatwriter mentioned Jordan in February article as a guy the Browns should target in rd 3. I came away very impressed....He was on my list for Cle 6th round from the beginning of this draft. I don't know how he went undrafted in the GMO, but obviously I figured I could get him much later than I had him valued on my board.
