Panthers select Joe Jackson, EDGE - Miami Big get for the Panthers. Enjoyed watching his film as much as any in this draft. Like a wrecking ball... I made a point to stay quiet about him in the GMO when RT took him for one of his teams. Stole him I should say.
Lot's of talk about Daniel Jones going in the top 10. For your viewing consumption, Daniel Jones vs Jordan Ta'amu -
I don't think you are crazy. Boykin is one of those guys who just feels like he will go earlier than pundits are projecting.
@Tim I'm curious where you had Joe Jackson in your ratings? When I watch him, I can't figure out why he isn't higher in the rankings. At least in with the top EDGE rushers in this draft.
I have him listed with the DL at #10 overall. I think his game transfers better to a true DE (4-3/3-4) and if he adds another 15-25 pounds I believe he can condense to the middle of the DL with ease. IMO, he's likely off the board before the end of the second round.
Okay. I'm going to put my ignorance (or confusion) on full display. Can someone explain to me why a relatively new position of "EDGE" was needed?
That's more like I figured too...I don't know why he fell in both mocks. RT got him even later in the GMO.
Well Spags uses extra EDGE players in his NASCAR package if that is useful info? Giants shifted to a 3 - 4 defensive base last year. But it's really a hybrid system that's fairly similiar to their old 4-3 so sometimes they have DE's with the their hands in the dirt and sometimes OLB's rushing from a 2 point stance. They want, more times then not, those guys to be able to do both. So are they DE's or OLB's? Neither they are just a pass rusher coming off the edge no matter how they line up. Thus EDGE.
