That is indeed the plan. In addition to a bunch of veteran players with expiring contracts, Grady Jarrett is on a franchise tag, Vic Beasley is on a fifth year option, a couple of 2017 prospects aren't working out as planned (with this year as their last chance as I'd cut them rather than pay the Proven Performance Escalator for a bust), and the 2016 draft class hits free agency next year. I consider that level of potential turnover to be a serious problem, and as mock GM it's my duty to start addressing it now. Since I only needed one immediate starting caliber (DT taken in the first round), this draft is about getting players to develop for 2020 and loading up with extra 2020 or even 2021 picks wherever possible.
I was a little worried missing out on all the OL in the first round, buuuut getting arguably the top CB in the draft and two quality OL in the second is a great scenario for Houston!
Chargers via being too lazy to get their ass signed in themselves because I already am select Will Grier, QB - West Virginia
Well after Pats pick, the Colts are OTC. Willing to trade that pick. Will wait a while to see if any offers come
The Oakland Raiders Select Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, DB - Florida He will immediately start at the nickel.
Sorry to burst the bubble but Mack Wilson isn’t good....the other guy needs to change his ways in the NFL or he will be on the sidelines more often than not lol
I'm up with the Eagles and will need some time to decide. I've focused on the Cowboys and Raiders lately so I haven't nailed it down yet.
