Is this defense really THAT good?

Damn. But what would we give up? He's got the experience, but is he really an upgrade over Mitch? Not sure.

Potentially how many years that Manning still have to compete?

Oh hell no. That would be a horrific idea. Pace needs every bit of draft capital he has but its not even that. Eli is totally done. He's also not a good fit for this offense. He's even less mobile than Chase, he wouldn't stand a chance behind this clown circus OL. Also, he's totally done and i hate the idea.

Give me Trubisky any day, i don't even find that a hard decision personally. Nowhere near given up on him enough to make a wing and a prayer move like Eli.

I think i understood your broken English.

Its prob better to calculate that in weeks rather than years. Possibly days even.

My fear with the suggestion of Eli is that Mitch isn’t closer to return than initially thought with the shoulder......otherwise why call? Chase is under contract and has noodle arm and being a limited quarterback down pat.

It’s an atrocious idea. Does Eli know what an RPO is?

Is it though if we can give up no more than a 4th rounder and if Trubs is out a while?

Do you really think Eli would add anything to this team tho buddy? Cos putting the draft picks aside, i straight up don't.

Considering the draft picks, we don't have a 4th anyway, but i wouldn't make this trade for a 5th either.

Eli doesn't get this team to the playoffs. He sure as hell doesn't get them to the SB. I just see no value. For as limited as Chase is, we at least know that he knows the system and functions well in it relative to other systems. I don't think Trubisky will be out all that long, but if he was, our season is done either way. So save the draft pick.

Yeah, I'm conflicted - I don't think that Eli makes this team better. But I also don't think that Trubisky gets this team where it needs to go, either.

Cap space is what I'm more worried about - they can't just trade for any QB, it needs to be someone that can fit the cap without other roster cuts. That makes things harder, I'd imagine.

There are several QB's that would potentially make this a SuperBowl team right now, on teams that may well part with them. I'm just not sure the cap space or trade capital exists.

Eli has a better chance of getting us to the playoffs than Chase, absolutely. If we did make the playoffs we wouldn’t go anywhere.

I like that Pace is considering it, definitely win now mentality. But to you’re point, maybe long-term it’s best if we forget about seriously competing this year and target a new QB for 2020.

Out of interest, who? I haven't quite moved on from Trubsiky yet so haven't looked into any of this(maybe the Jags?). But yes, i imagine cap considerations would make this very difficult.

Andy Dalton and Matt Stafford make this team SuperBowl contenders right away. Neither Cincinnati or Detroit is going to be competitive through the end of those guys' contracts, so I can't imagine either team would oppose a trade. But cap space and tradable assets are the limiting factors.

So, you'd have to shoot for a guy that would fit your cap, and that the team wouldn't mind being rid of. I remember having this discussion with a friend a few weeks ago, and coming up with a couple guys. But, none of them were "slam dunk" options - just "not the Devil we know" options. I simply don't think Trubisky can do it, so I'm down with bringing in another QB that may or may not suck - at least the chance presents an opportunity for improvement. However, I don't think Eli has the potential to not suck, this year.

BWW saw a report that Tyler Bray was released he speculates Mitch is coming back, but I only hope it's not to make room for Eli.

Watching Sunday's game again and Roquan Smith really had a piss poor performance.

That depends how far back you set the time machine. If you set it 5 years back, the answer is 3.

    He's trash...but he did have 4300 yards last season and nearly a 2 to 1 TD/INT rate.
